Christ's Four Ace trick.

Hanging out with some guy named Dave Buck the other night. He showed me some awesome stuff. I stole a tiny chunk of his coolness for the last revelation in this trick. Okay I didn't actually get current on card magic but the whole springing the cards thing as part of the trick is pretty neat to me.
I went on the wiki tool here and did a little research. This darned trick has been worked on by a lot of people. The internal structure always makes me smile a little bit inside.
Still looking for a line of jabber to put with this thing.

Hey Kent - that was the best card routine I have seen you do yet - keep up the good work.
Cheers!

Thanks Glenn.
MagicPedia has some great references for the trick here:

Oddly enough I actually had all the references in the library except for the Genii issue. Oh . . . wait, I think it's on-line. Gotta go look and see what that wild man Farmer came up with.

Re: Christ's Four Ace trick.
The description in the Green book is incorrect in terms of what Henry Christ told me. His EXACT version has never been published. The one in the Green book works, but its not his. Simon Aronson added a neat way to get into it. For my money, Bannon's version is hard to beat. Thanks for drawing our attention to this fine effect.

Re: Christ's Four Ace trick.
The Cliff Green version is very good (albeit it's not exactly what Henry Christ gave him). Karl Fulves published at least two versions that purported to be closer to Christ's original handling. Frankly at this point I don't think Christ's original will ever be published.

Re: Christ's Four Ace trick.
Richard I'm guessing one of the routines you're referring to is H.C. Aces from Epilogue, do you remember where the other one is published?
H.C Aces is closer to Christ's original than the one in the Cliff Green book is, but I'd be interested to read the other one that Fulves published.

I recall the one in Epilogue, but I thought Karl ran another one a few issues later. Might be thinking of something else.

Re: Christ's Four Ace trick.
"Henry Christ's original method, as remembered by Mr. Vernon" appears in The Vernon Chronicles Volume Two by Stephen Minch, along with an alternative opening procedure by Vernon.
Re: Christ's Four Ace trick.
The H.C. Aces in Epilogue was also apparently the original handling, but neither that nor the one in the Chronicles is Christ's original exact handling.

Re: Christ's Four Ace trick.
I can't check at the moment but I think the Elmsley version was originally in "The Cardiste".
A couple more for the collection:
Fabulous Four Ace Routine in "The Commercial Magic of J.C. Wagner". He also posted a handling on the Magic Cafe a while back.
Christ-Aronson Aces
http://www.simonaronson.com/christ.htm
This is an updated handling of the method in "Sessions" that allows you to start and finish with a stacked deck.
Spectator-Cut Christ Aces in Paul Gordon's "Card Marvels".
Wasn't there something by Tom Mullica in one of Harry Lorayne's "Best of Friends" books (Vol 2, perhaps)?
And I just remembered this too:

Elmsley's Arab Roto Pack is in The Cardiste no. 6, March 1958.

What specifically prevents the originator's routine from being published?

If it was written down in notes (which is likely), Persi Diaconis would have those notes protectively archived.

Denis: I PM'ed you another reference for Christ Aces, but I continue to have problems with Genii)--did it ever make it to you?

Re: Christ's Four Ace trick.
Yes, thanks for the reference. However, I never put single items in the database, it's full books/publications or nothing with me, otherwise I lose track of it. (No list is complete, of course.)

Re: Christ's Four Ace trick.
Ace Location by Al Leech in Manipulating with Leech (1952) looks like (but is not) Christ's Four Ace Trick.

You may want to check out my stand up version of the Henry Christ trick. Using selected cards instead of aces.

Nice, really highlights the appeal of the original...
