Thanks for the heads-up. I'll be stockpiling until then.

Apropos of nothing - it does suggest the use of conjuring by TSA employees who produce things from places best touched (if at all) wearing gloves. Imagine them using "psychic surgery" to reach in and pull out a loaded Trojan to elicit a confession from a mule.
Okay - is it a card move? I don't want to succumb to anything by way of card selection after this hits print.
BTW, feces throwing is usually considered agressive behavior. Think "you got served" meets X-card manip by way of vogue competitions and you might have something socially acceptable. ;)

This is the sleight to which Richard is referring - a double card-change by Richard Hucko called "Erdnase [Squared]":

For the record, it turns out Alpen Nacar also came up with this change independently, and although his version is unpublished, he showed it during a teach-a-trick session at The False Deal Convention in Oklahoma City in 2008.

I've never thrown my feces, either in joy or anger.

What's the motivation for the back and forth action on that card change?
I like the double change effect. What's the credit history on that one? As best I recall it's usually done from a sidesteal after a triple lift and display or from the back of the pack.

Reason: not to mention a certain NY card guy's routine that uses the tens.

The credits go back to The last issue of Heirophant.

It's not exactly the same effect.
Racherbaumer's Double Erdnase Change, in The Last Hierophant, permits to change the face card TWO times.

Richard Huko's version is identical to the one explains in Royal Road to Card Magic - 1948 (Double Color Change) but his technique differs.

I'm referring to to the handling in Last Heirophant where the card that changes is outjogged. I think that's the point here.

Just read the "Double Color Change" in Royal Road and there's no question it should be cited as precedent (if you haven't had a chance to look it up, the top half of the face-up deck is openly stepped forward about half its length, then a double color-change is performed with the two visible cards). I'm happy to say the Hucko/Nacar method is much more elegant.

Is there a name for the sleight of doing the Houdini/Erdnase color change where you work sideways rather than front to back?

Yes, that would be Harry Levine's Hurricane Change--but feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

The Hurricane Change looks great, but for a single-card, face-of-the-deck transformation, you'd be hard-pressed to perform anything more magical than Doc Docherty's Zoso Change: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT3WmMJI-J4

Re: Coming in the February "Magicana" ...
The hurricane change strictly speaking comes off the corner of the deck. It is more diagonal than from the side. Geoff latta had a nice handling of the ersnase change where the card initially comes out the side. However he made a circular motion with the hand making the extraction diagonal-esque

Is there a rationalization for the elbow back and forth in the Houdini/Erdnase change?
The half deck setup for the card change plays well for the cavorting aces or tens. Also sets up a cute red/black sepearation to complete the routine if you're into that stuff.
How about having the two cards spread sideways and keeping the action on that side-to-side frame? Is there a credit on that one?
