Here's some info. on the lecture. I've known Curtis for a few years now and his knowledge and skill in all areas of magic is truly unrivaled. This is going to be really good....

The Milan Collection

"Answers to the Question"

In late November, Curtis Kam was invited to come to Milan, Italy and answer one question for the expert coin magicians assembled there: Are there new effects with coins, and if so, how do we find them? To answer that question, he brought his latest creations, the ones that moved the boundaries of our understanding. Returning to Midwest Magic on his way back to the testing grounds in Waikiki, Hawaii, he has agreed to perform and discuss those creations, including:

Six Cylinder: Ramsay's legendary Cylinder and Coins done with six coins and a metal nut, and why that's taking it in the right direction.

Easy-Peasy Squeezy Miracle: Three quarters travel magically to a cup. Then one vanishes visibly from the spectator's hand, and all appear, with a huge handful of pocket change, under the cup. A sneaky simple gimmick does 90% of the work, and, like all good gimmicks, allows you do to things you absolutely can't do otherwise.

Handyman: the real work on Bob Farmer's gag that makes audiences scream. With this handling, the hand can even come out of your coin purse, your wallet, or even your iPhone.

And, in addition to your questions, he'll answer these: What's the real ending to the Chinese Sticks, and what does that mean to coin magic? What new technique makes my shell obsolete? Can you do Reset with coins if you add an Okito Box? What's the right way to present a visual coins across? What do fingertip (i.e. visual) vanishes and appearances look like? Can you perform Walter Jeans' Million Dollar Mystery up close? What's the easiest handling for Hanging Coins? What's the hardest? What is the most effective Coin to Impossible Location ever? Are there better ways to end besides a jumbo coin? Can you do David Williamson's 51 Cards to Pocket with coins? Why is an old, easy, impromptu trick the strongest thing you can do one-on-one, and why would the world be better if everyone did this instead of coins across.

"Are there any new effects with coins? We're not outside the box yet, but we have scratched the surface."

In addition, Curtis Kam will be on hand to discuss any other topics in magic. As a professional stage illusionist for 13 years, an illusion designer and script doctor, a trade show hawker, a cruise ship performer, a restaurant, hospitality suite, and cocktail party entertainer, an expert witness for magic-related litigation, a paranormal investigator, the author of two books, ten sets of notes, and the star of six DVD's (with appearances on three others) and a pretty fair juggler and uncelebrated card man, Curtis Kam has a background in magic that is both broad and deep.

And, if the above is not enough, I bring with me tales of the first ever European International Coin Magic Symposium. International intrigue, new and wonderful gaffs, the best darn burn on a retention I've ever seen, and more.

Be there, aloha.
