Re: troublewit for a new generation?
Speaking of Troublewits....Does anyone have any good advice as to the construction of these things? Not the instructions - these are easily found in many origami books - but the real construction secrets such as the correct type of paper, how to keep the folds accurate and sharp, etc. I purchased a Troublewith years ago from Jay Marshall at his shop in Chicago. This thing is amazing and has held up beautifully. All of the folds were pretty much worked in and the thing was easy to manipulate. The ones that I tried to make were terrible and the paper wouldn't last more than a few days before it began to tatter and wear out. I tried a lot of different papers but none were satisfactory. And advice?

Timbrown,
I use it all the time and get mine from Practical Magic in the UK who in turn source theirs from the guy who makes the best ones. I think in Australia or New Zeakland if memory serves me right.

Re: troublewit for a new generation?
I recently made my own Troublewit successfully for the first time.
I used a large sheet of watercolor paper that I think I bought at Aaron Brothers. Get the largest size paper you can - it comes out smaller than you think.
I was told years ago that it had to be made by a folding machine. But I found that it just took a little patience, folding carefully and using a spoon to press the folds.
IF you want paper to hold a fold, spray it with a mist of water, then leave it under a weight for a few hours. But unfold it before it dries completely and sticks to itself.
