Looking for info on Joseph Fenichel

Postby Jason England » June 27th, 2010, 3:24 am

Can anyone tell me anything about a magician named Joseph Fenichel?

He was apparently from the New York area and active in the 60s and 70s, perhaps a bit earlier, perhaps a bit later. I believe he was a stage magician or small apparatus guy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Fenichel was John Benzais' father-in-law. Benzais married his Joe's daughter, Diana (also a magician) on April 4, 1963. (Reported in MUM June 1963 )

I believe Metamorpho Spots was one of his... A can and silks where spots jumped from the can to the silks.
RFA Productions yeah... It is cool stuff.

I used to see Joe Fenichel quite often at the after meeting shows when the S.A.M. held their meetings at the Barbizon Plaza Hotel in NYC. In those days a number of wives would sit outside the meeting room and chat during the meeting and go in for the after meeting show. I think I was always the only child present. After the show everyone usually went to a restaurant for a late night bite.

I believe Cagey Canister was also one of his marketed tricks. A square circle with a integrated birdcage production.

He made a very popular Jumbo rising card deck and a wine bottle that worked ala milk pitcher (I found mine yesterday going through the garage). Also found a beautiful set of Himber passe passe bottles (3 bottle set). May soon sell.
Stay tooned.

By the way. Pete, My JF rising card is kind of slow. Any way to speed it up without screwing it up?

I don't know. If you can get to the motor a super tiny drop of 3 in 1 oil might help. But it might then go too fast.
Stay tooned.

Chas;
Do not use 3 in 1 oil as it will eventually gum up. Instead use clear sewing machine oil.
