Houdini Bicycle Marathon 1893

Postby Kevin Connolly » August 9th, 2010, 9:50 pm

I just found an article on the web on Houdini in a marathon bicycle race in 1893. The only thing wrong with it is that Houdini wasn't there. And no, you can't blame Houdini for it. Here is the link to the article on my blog.

I am usually not so foolish to disagree with you, Kevin, but, I know Houdini was in Wisconsin sometime in 1893. Jacob Hyman had some reviews in his scrapbook that the Bros. Houdini picked up on their way either to or from the Chicago World's Fair. I've reproduced one in my book.

It's easy to say that someone knew a person after that person was dead 2 years. Then add an incident 30 years before that and then who's going to check. Especially if was as far back in 1928. We would need datse on the marathon and when HH was there to clear this up.

If you're going to tell a story, wouldn't it better to have Houdini as your compettion or Bjorn the farmer? IMHO

As for research, when your book comes out next month, HOUDINI - The Key, I KNOW it will be researched. I'm glad I have mine ordered so I don't miss out like many others did on your first limited edition Houdini set.
