Lorayne - Magic Square
Lorayne - Magic Square
Someone posted a video of me doing my magic square version on another forum. I've been asked why it's not available on this forum. I don't know, but - I can try to copy/paste the Link here. Don't know if I can do it, or if it will work, but I'll try. Best - HL.

NOBODY sells an effect like Mr. Lorayne! Awesome!
Re: Lorayne - Magic Square
I love the justification for the limit between 32-100. So natural.
"Before the echo of your voice dies down". Wonderful line.
And as said, brilliantly sold.
Which book of yours is that in Mr L?

Re: Lorayne - Magic Square
I've taught it in a few books, Mr. Goat - The Magic Book, Reputation-Makers (re-written, updated, etc., in Lorayne: The Classic Collection, Volume 2), Mathematical Wizardry. HL.

Very nice performance. Had them eating out of your hand.
Re: Lorayne - Magic Square
People have contacted me to tell me that they enjoyed the magic square "piece" (thanks) and how can they get to see me doing Numero Uno. Surprised you missed it; I think that "piece" has been posted in different places a number of times. And, if you watch the magic square piece to the end (which I just did) there's a "choice" for "Reputation-Makers." Click on that, and the video of me performing HaLo Aces and Numero Uno "appears." HL.

Re: Lorayne - Magic Square
The key to Harry's success is a clearly defined performing persona with a lot of enthusiasm. Harry is charming, intelligent, and enjoying what he is doing for his audience, the same secrets that every old vaudevillian possessed in their presentations. It does not appear to be work and his enthusiasm is infectious. It's real show biz.
That clip is a good lesson for everyone to study because there's lots to learn from it.

Excellent. Thank you, Sir. Just read it from The Classic Collection2.
You brilliantly sneaky man!
I love it!
Thanks

Re: Lorayne - Magic Square
I can't count to 10--my 8 year old daughter is better at math. But I CAN do the Magic Square routine that Harry put in his "The Magic Book" which came out for the public. It's stupidly simple, but done on a napkin in a restaurant as a off-the-cuff thing it's fantastic.

Re: Lorayne - Magic Square
Harry,
I was greatly inspired by your work, and that of Peter Reveen, about for decades ago -- inspired enough, in fact, to leave a long-planned career in emergency medicine to become a professional performer. I've since retired for health reasons, but thought I'd take the opportunity to say "Thanks!" publicly, and hope others who've been similarly inspired might chime in, too. I had a great ride.
Cordially,
Greg Edmonds

Yes, yes, people don't read - I guess. I'm getting lots of personal messages, emails, etc., asking if I'm re-printing MATHEMATICAL WIZARDRY. The answer is YES. It is in the "progress" of being re-printed as we speak. It will retail for $44.95 plus the inevitable pstg/hndlng. If you want to be notified as to when I'll be accepting orders, send me your email address. Send it to: harrylorayne@earthlink.net. Best - HARRY L.

Re: Lorayne - Magic Square
Harry, will you be including the correction pointed out by Ian Kendall? Or is this an unedited reprint?

Harry already answered this. He prefers to ignore customers and thinks there is no error. It will be reprinted as is.

Re: Lorayne - Magic Square
As per Harry's blessings, I'm putting together a small book on fun proofs, which will have my take on the n/2(n+1) routine, as well as how to prove Pi=2, 2=1, -1=1 and other fun things to do with maths.
Tentatively titled Proofs, it should be ready in a week or so.
Take care, Ian

I think this will surely be a hit with the "using magic to pick up women" crowd and should be marketed accordingly:
Mathemagical Foreplay
Using sums to see naked bums
Eat my Pi
You can use any of them, gratis. No need to thank me.

Hi Folk: Thanks for the laughs! A couple of responses:
Nathan Muir - since there are no errors, there are no corrections; it's an un-edited - EXACTLY like the original - re-print. If you think there's a correction needed, strongly suggest
you get Ian's stuff so that you can learn about n/2(n+1) routine, as well as how to prove Pi=2, 2=1, -1=1.
the Larry: Such insight! How in the world to you know what I prefer and don't prefer! And, more importantly, how do you know what I think or don't think? Why don't you write a book about how to do those things? You'll sell millions. I don't "think" - I KNOW. But, hey, listen to Ian - see, he KNOWS. Again, thanks for the laughs.
I have to include Mr. Goat in this great "load of wit" I've had the privilege of reading above.
And, thanks for stirring up some more interest. Those who want to know when MATHEMATICAL WIZARDRY is available, email me at harrylorayne@earthlink.net. Best - HARRY L.

Good-o!
In the meantime, you may like this comment from SAMtalk last year...
Or this quote from Peter Duffie:
And there's even another quote from David Hirata about Basic Training:
I hope I can keep up this standard with Proofs.
Take care, Ian
In the meantime, you may like this comment from SAMtalk last year...
but special mention should go to the thoughtful and meticulous teaching style of Ian Kendall
Or this quote from Peter Duffie:
The teaching is first rate and is possibly the best I have seen yet on the Pass
And there's even another quote from David Hirata about Basic Training:
I'm a moderately skilled sleight of hand magician, but Mr. Kendall's "basic" instruction, even on "simple" moves, is refreshingly clear and his analysis thought-provoking. I like the column so much that I'm working on putting all of the "Basic Training" columns in a single binder for easy reference--I expect it'll become one of my most used magic "books".
I hope I can keep up this standard with Proofs.
Take care, Ian

Re: Lorayne - Magic Square
I hope so, too, Ian; I really do. Also, when you have quotes like that that have enabled you to sell 22 MILLION copies of books for the public, and from literally THOUSANDS of magicians who have read my magic books (no, I won't list them here - don't have to), which have sold hundreds of thousands of copies over the decades - we all will, as will I, anxiously await many more such. You take care, Harry.

I really don't want to hear any more about this. If you want to discuss Harry's Magic Square routine, feel free to continue the thread.

Re: Lorayne - Magic Square
I'm with you, Richard; I sure as hell don't need to hear any more from the above. Right now, since I am re-printing MATHEMATICAL WIZARDRY, all I care about is - IF YOU WANT TO BE NOTIFIED WHEN I'M READY TO TAKE ORDERS, email me. If you don't want to be notified, DON'T EMAIL ME. What a simple thing. Simple, Richard, right? I mean, c'mon, - yes or no, please; who the hell asked for the discussion from these...no, okay, I won't say it. Just that we do NOT need the comedians and put-downers to interfere with a really simple thread, simple question, simple thing. Again, I'm with you, Richard. Best - HARRY.
Re: Lorayne - Magic Square
Oh, most important. The entire point of this thread, which I started, was that someone posted a link you could go to in order to see me doing my version of the magic square (which was taken from volume 4 of my DVD set). The link is in the very first post here. Check it out if you like (and it is obviously relevant because I'm trying to gauge the interest in the book, my book mentioned above, which teaches this version of the magic square, along with so much more). If you're interested in seeing how the square can elicit 5 or 10 minutes of applause, shouts of "Bravo" and standing ovations - take a look at it. That was the point. I did not ask for the link to be posted and I certainly didn't ask for, need, find necessary, "reviews" from some who have no idea what it is they're "reviewing" or talking about. So, if you're not interested in seeing the reaction I get with the my magic square version, don't bother checking it out. Right? Simple. Sorry, Richard, had to get this point across. You're the boss - do you agree? Don't mean to put you on the spot. Best - HARRY L.
