Doctor Who Wildcard
Any thoughts on the "wildcard" in Doctor Who's End of Time Part 1 today?
Re: Doctor Who Wildcard

Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
So, anyone gonna put an AS ( the master ace ;) ) into their WOW and have it affect the rest of the cards on the table, box, pocket etc. ?
Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
I am a huge fan of the Doctor and his various spin off series. I have been watching since 1978 Tom Baker years.
Torchwood was an interesting show.
Sarah Jane is fun and I really enjoyed this last season.
I thought the Water of Mars was interesting but did not like some of the things that Tennent did in that episode.
The End of Time episode is quite important for the Doctor as we will see in Part two and yes for the next series (Season) they have reverted the Blue Box back the resemble the original one. There are a number of differences but they are minor ones.
I am excited to see Matt Smith's take on the Doctor.
An interesting note for those that may not know, Torchwood is an anagram of Dr. Who that the BBC used to put on the film cans when they were done with the show and transporting them to the main studio. People used to steal them when they marked them Dr. Who.
Enjoy,
Mike

Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
The Silence in the Library is getting very suspenseful, no?
In the mean time folks, remember to eat your veggies lest they attempt to turn the tables. I heard there's a remake of The Triffids happening this week too :)

Should I wait and watch s4 or should i just
watch pt 1 now and pt 2 this weekend?
Then I can answer your questions Johnathan.
on Torchwood. I love that show.
I DVRd the Sarah Jane Adventures yesterday
on the SyFy channel...

Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
The first part of "the end of time" aired on BBC America earlier so now it's just the suspense for part 2.
Season four... go ahead an watch - enjoy :) and yes between that and the two earlier specials this year the longer story arc builds to where things are now.

OK. I'll just wait in the meantime.
I'm awaiting for D1 from netflix to
watch "Voyage of the Damned" because
they put that on the Instant play for
some reason. Then it's smooth sailing
from there on...
whee!

Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
I should be getting S4 D1 tomorrow.
So my goal is this...
Watching "Voyage of the Damned"
Marathon all through S4.
Then onto the next 4 specials:
* The Next Doctor
* Planet of the Dead
* The Waters of Mars
* The End of Time, Part One
So by Saturday night I can watch Part Two.
*I can do it*
Then I can see what you're talking about Jonathan

Everybody turns into the Master.
Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
AHHHHHH!
that was creepy.
John Sim dressed in women's cloth's was
kinda funny.
i thought it was clever about how donna was
used as a way to counter act all that.
and was the only one besides bernard who
didn't turn into the master.
it was like he knew all along this was happening.
otherwise, i didn't like how the ending of
the 10th doctor into the 11th doctor came about.
took too long. it was more awesome when christopher
eccelston turned into david tennant.

Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
I agree- and read a funny discussion of the finale on Charles Stross' website.
And in a couple of months we get to find out how well the next Doctor takes from "alons si" to "geronimo".
Are you watching 'Being Human'? The second season looks interesting so far.

Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
Yeah I noticed the key word was changing to "germonio"
Now I wonder if the Ood & Ood Sigma will still be apart
of the storyline.
The orgin of the Ood was actually interesting when that
guy turned into one and spit out his brains.
I saw the previews for it.
But haven't watched it yet.
If they are beginning season two then I'll
definitely have watch it from the beginning.
The show 'Demons'seems good as well.
Right now i'm trying to enjoy 'Caprica'
but I'm fining it to be a bit slow but hopefully
that its just the set up for the rest of the series.

Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
If they follow the schedule for the other seasons - the new season of Dr Who will begin late march or early April.
"Demons" was fun. No idea if there's going to be a second season.
How about "Being Human"?

Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
i just finished weeds season 5.
and started watching fringe season 1.
weeds is not as funny but still fun to watch.
its become quite dark and eerie.
fringe is interesting.
There are two BBC comedies I really loved.
Particularly "The Worst Week of My Life"
I've only seen S1 thus far but its harlirious.
and S1 of Gavin & Stacy was quite funny.
Doesn't exactly replace 'Coupling' tho.
I wish 'Hex' s2 was available on DVD.
I really liked s1.

Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
ooh, second series of Being Human, only has 2 more to go here in the U.K.
Last nights ( Episode 6) is of interest to magicians, because the plot involves a failing stage Psychic.
One bit had me in tears.. and it ended with a bang.

I can tell that "The Worst Week of My Life" would be funnier.
I put it on one Sunday and my husband started watching
it with me and we couldn't stop we had to finish the
entire week...
i wish they'd release s2.

Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
Two Questions for folks here:
What do you think of the wildcard effect where some cards are taken from the pack, shown then tabled - and then a wildcard chosen? Patter might go from fashion among peers to the season finale of Dr Who but the idea is The Illusion of Conformity.
Second question - the use of "WOW" in routine? A hands off change or too much apparatus for the working guy to bring from table to table? I'm thinking you make a dogpile of dupes on top of the one remaining non-dupe and slip them all into the wow, turn the thing over so they can see and end with a visible change where you have all the heat on that face card which they can take and look at. :D (yes okay that's a Matrix reference)
Getting back to the Dr Who topic - what do you feel about changing them back at the end - say by breaking the spell and having them looks at several cards from the unaffected talon at the same time? That versus having the entire pack become of a kind. IE what works best when one is working and folks want to come back for the next show to see it happen again.

Re: Doctor Who Wildcard
Looks like a steampunk interpretation of a stage with wings - just missing a balcony. Did you see Teller's production of Macbeth?
So, any thoughts on the Dr Who (The Master gets pushy) approach to wildcard?

Okay... its much lava like.
interesting.it seems kinda dark.
Jonathan on the wildcard.
I noticed that the master even dressed like a woman.
