For anyone who's interested, The Camirand Academy has posted home video of the late Gary Ouellet performing a few visual tricks and sleights from his 1990 book, CLOSE-UP ILLUSIONS. After watching this montage, I pulled the book off my shelf for a little refresher (I was fooled more than once). Here's the link:

One of my favorite close-up magic books! Thanks for the link, David.

It's one of Gary's best books. When it came out, and with his government connections at the time, he managed to get a copy to General Norman Schwarzkopf (who was, I believe, over in Iraq practicing Sands of the Desert). Schwarzkopf's hobby was magic and he sent a very nice letter to Gary about the book (I have a copy somewhere. There's a very good cigarette-through-coin effect in the book.

A great book.
I use "Three Triumphant Cuts" in my Ambitious Card Routine, following Tilt, with a break under two cards so the ambitious card ends up on top all ready for a double turnover.
Gary's routine for the Belanger cig through quarter gimmick is great. If you know David Williamson's off move for this trick, it's perfect for the Belanger (non-flap) gimmick.
Can't wait to get home (where youtube is not blocked) and check out this video.

Thats what I love about this forum. When I saw the original post, I remembered that I had seen that book at my local magic shop... I think it was sitting on their shelves since the summer of '42.... I bought it today and found out it even came with a VHS videotape showing how the moves and routines should look... Thank you Genii forum!!

Considering that Gary died of a massive coronary, perhaps doing Cigarette Through Coin was a bad idea.

I'm also in the nowhere-near-exclusive club of people who like Gary's handling for the Belanger Cigarette Through Quarter. The Camirand Academy still sells the trick separately - you can see Gary performing it here:
