Tarbell effect

In the Tarbell course there is an effect using a blackboard. There is a sentence whcih when rubbed away leaves some letters intact to reveal a prediction (playing card?). Can anyone please tell me what the sentence and predictionis? This is not for me but a colleague who needs it ASAP.

I believe the prediction is "TEN OF HEARTS", though I don't recall the original message is.

Isn't this in Practical Mental Magic, though? I seem to recall it being done with a business card or something there.

I can dig up the sources when I get home tonight if you don't have any further info by then.

The sentence is THE NAME OF THE CARD IS and the prediction is TEN OF HEARTS.

Shouldn't it be THE NAME OF THE CARD TIS? Otherwise, the "T" in Hear""s is missing.

I guess if you write 'IS' with the horizontal lines top and bottom you can get a 'T'.

Ashworth erased just enough of the "D" to turn into a "T".

You write the sentence like this :

THE NAME T_E N

OF OF

THE CARD IS HE ART S

You have to change the D in T

Other than the fact that "tis" smacks of Old English or waxing poetic, it is a better rendering. If the chalk needs to be picked up again, adding a line to the "I" to create the "T" would work to.

Or if you make a capital [font:Book Antiqua]"I",[/font] you only need to erase the bottom line.

The Capital "I" is probably the best bet.
