Welcome to New Members

Postby Richard Kaufman » December 13th, 2007, 5:16 pm

First, welcome to all the new members today. I assume many of you have wandered our way because the Magic Cafe is temporarily down.

And, I'd like to apologize for the slight delay in processing your registrations, but on The Genii Forum I personally review every registrant to keep out the bots and spammers. It takes time.

All of you should have received your acceptance notices now.

See how nice Richard is? When I review it, I just decline the whole list and then fix the ones who complain. ;)

and don't forget Richard for people like me:

who make up dumb answers to the required questions, like "How Long have you Been in Magic?" and "Do you Subscribe to Genii"

Ultimately, I won him over.

:D

I guess we need to lobby for a "Cups & Balls" section.
Stay tooned.

So Bill Duncan, what's so wrong with the About.com Magic & Illusion chat forums eh?

Please explain in detail.

Yes, but technically I am not a new member, I registered here 3 years ago. Coincidently I also have a 3-year old Daughter, so for some strange reason I haven't had much time to read or post here for the exact same number of years my Daughter has been around! Coincidence I guess! :)

To quote Groucho Marx, "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member." Just kidding! ;)

You're right.
It's a thought I should have kept to myself.

I have dropped in to read post but never signed up. I have always enjoyed reading the subjects. I first subscribed to Genii in 1974 and faded away from magic due to life. Guess momma magic pulled me back in. It is way too cool to return to an old love. Happy holidays everyone.

It's been a couple of years since I've been there but my strongest memories are of a Cafe-like cult of personality around some folks who didn't impress me much, and forum software that (at the time at least) reminded me of Compuserve circa 1984. Oh, and lots of ads...

Well, Mark, I'll be glad when the Cafe is back up too so I can feel at home. In the meantime, however, I think I'll crash here in your pad and stink it up a little.
