I'll check that out to see if it already post 2 years ago. If not... will let you know.

Betty Friedan would have been so proud! Anybody checked with Camille Paglia?

I suspect Ms. Paglia--one of my favorite writers--would see this performance for what it is and find it quite funny.

And that's another reason to thank our lucky stars for the yin and the yang.
Doesn't she go by "Dr. Paglia"?

Bill,
Her byline is simply "Camille Paglia." I cannot recall anyone (unless it's her students) calling her "Doctor."

Dustin, thanks for the reply. I asked the question because I knew she was from academia. I should try to seek out her writings from time to time.

Perhaps because she does't have a doctorate?

Re: Ursula's got nothing on this lady
I think she has a PhD from Yale.
I dont agree with a lot of her politics. But what she does is support her arguments with facts and admits when shes expressing opinion. Thats rare these days. I respect her views and the way she expresses them.

Note that Dustin is not talking about the vagina-tooting kazoo performer, but the well-known feminist (who might also play a vaginal kazoo, but at least has the dignity to keep it to herself).

Le Petomaine did not (pardon the expression) stoop to using a kazoo. TIM: did you get my e-mail the other day?

Okay he did not use a kazoo... he used tube and did animal and other sound effect impressions - and a fountain??

I'll betcha Betty Friedan never learned the kazoo.
And Camille Paglia has a doctorate. Never mind the kazoo; Dustin and I were chatting about this important voice for our times who, regardless of politics, consistently articulates her opinions with wit and alacrity.
Re: Ursula's got nothing on this lady
I can't believe this group of august magicians thinks that female comedian ACTUALLY did what she pretended to do in that sketch.
Re: Ursula's got nothing on this lady
What? Ok, show of hands: who thinks she _really_ tooted that kazoo with her tooter? Everyone knows a kazoo requires vocal cords to produce the sound, eh?
Now a SAXOPHONE, on the other hand......

I don't think anyone here suspects this is a physiological stunt. It's a great act, though.

Fans of Ursula Martinez (and I know there are many)
will be interested to know, La Clique, a "burlesque" show
she toured with to Australia last year, returned to the
Sydney Festival in January and featured a reprise of the
hanky routine.
This time performed by a male.

From?
She has a Master of Philosophy from Yale, but as far as I can tell never offered a disertation for a PhD.
No mention of it on her website, nor in any place I could find. No record of her studying any hard sciences either.

Re: Ursula's got nothing on this lady
I just found a letter from her online where she acknowledges having a Yale Ph.D.
Dustin
PS
A lovely sample of her wit:
"(The value of Ivy League degrees, like sub-prime mortgages, has certainly been plummeting. As a Yale Ph.D., I have a perfect right to my scorn.)"

GWB was out of Yale by the time she arrived there for her grad work. He was at Harvard by the time she was at Yale. Besides, hes not her type, so no relations between the two.
Oh, you said related.
Never mind. ;)

I wondered where Adam Grace got the idea for his latest trick. Now I know!
Correctly spelled, Le Ptomane, which roughly translates from the French as "the Fart Maniac", his profession can also be referred to as a "Flatulist," "Farteur," or "Fartiste."

Outstanding! This woman "blows away" the legendary Annie Sprinkle!

i don't think she's playing that for real, probably using some kind of hidden electronic equipment, all smells a bit fishy to me

Not to worry - an actual female, not just someone playing the part. But I still smell a troll in that thar post.
Re: Ursula's got nothing on this lady
This is just one part of Amy G's comedy repertoire. It's usually preceded by a speech on family values and getting back to good, wholesome entertainment.
For those who are obsessed over the "how", her purse is pretty close to the microphone.

I find this strange since I'm deaf. I can see what she was trying to do but didn't find it funny BUT she does bring my eye brows raised! Thanks for posting!
