Re: Carney's Wonders in LA
John Carney wrote, quoting the LA weekly:
"... a blessing ... Carney's an amiable, quick-witted lowan with a twinge of sarcasm under his breath ... seamless technique ... makes a mockery of empiricism and the known mechanics of the universe.
I read the italicized text as lowan, not Iowan. Why some reporter would refer to John Carney as an Australian bird was completely beyond me. The review seemed positive overall. I had to look up lowan.
mallee fowl: Australian mound bird; incubates eggs naturally in sandy mounds
Not until I just copied and pasted the text here did I finally realize he must be from Iowa. Iowan dammit, Iowan.
I gotta go see the show. If he's going to be incubating eggs naturally in some girl named Sandy Mounds, plus his great magic, I'm not missing that show for the world!!!

I got to see John's one man show a few years ago as part of the Muhlenberg College program. It's really one of, if not the best show I've ever seen. If you haven't seen it, you need to.

Re: Carney's Wonders in LA
The only thing wrong about this show is the price. It should be double what John is charging.
