If you have a Border's Gift Card, USE IT.

Postby Richard Kaufman » January 5th, 2009, 12:12 pm

Border's book stores, in financial trouble for much of last year (it failed to find a buyer), changed its chief exec today.
If any of you received a Border's Gift card for the holidays, I suggest you use it now. You don't want to end up like the folks with Sharper Image gift cards, who got shafted for 75 million dollars.

Click here for a link to ABC News story.

I read somewhere that their stock went down as low as 0.35 last month.

Ouch!

I'm reading now that Circuit City is going out of business, so you may want to use any gift cards for there as well. They'll be completely shut down by March 31st. Story here.

On the upside, you might be able to get some good deals from them over the next couple of months...

Jim's right, but if I were you, I wouldn't buy a Blu-Ray player. I don't think they're going to make it for more than a five years. I bought an upconverting Oppo brand DVD player and my standard DVDs look marvelous on a big screen.
