Masked Magician making a COMPLETE Ass of himself
I found this on Tim Ellis' and Sue-Anne Webster's Magic Unlimited blog and thought some of you might appreciate it. Looks like Val needs to re-read Royal Road. What a Maroon.
Enjoy.

I wonder how he'd do with Kathy Lee?

Riveting. Like watching a train wreck in slow motion. but with only one casualty.

I wish I could understand what the host(ess) was saying. It seems to me that quite a bit wasn't translated.

Man, don'tcha just hate it when the spectator does something 'special' like that? Hardy-har-har!
Re: Masked Magician making a COMPLETE Ass of himself
I didn't make it too the end. Did MM actually use that first deck of cards he brought out?

I can't stand this guy even if it not valentino anymore who ever this is now is ruining the industry not only him but the station too it was fun to watch him choke it up like that what I find odd is that the same station that gives up the secrets like that the secrets that the whole industry is based on will also carry the awards show for magic the idea that we have all invested a lot of money time and effort putting together a quality time for a person to possibly think that the fantastic is possible then only rip the rug out from under them is like going to a bunch of kids visiting Santa and ripping off his beard and yelling you see kids there's no such thing as Santa

Holy crap.
I could not STAND to make it to the end. The guy pulls out a deck, sets it on the floor, pulls out a second deck, checks his pre-arrangement right there on camera, and the trick still fails.
But he did have a fancy mask on.
What a doofus!

Re: Masked Magician making a COMPLETE Ass of himself
Does anyone know what odd little effect this odd little man was *attempting* to execute? (Obviously SCTA, but what variation?) Morbidly curious...

Re: Masked Magician making a COMPLETE Ass of himself
If he had her deal three to the bottom and one on each of the other three piles it would have worked. It wasn't her fault, he screwed up his instructions.
I don't know what SCTA stands for, but that's what I saw.

Re: Masked Magician making a COMPLETE Ass of himself
hey I believe the more attention wegive this idiot the more undue attention this freaking jerk gets everytime I see the commercial for that career ruining show i just change the channel if we talk about it we make him relevant its when we stop talking about it that hopefully the show and the moron will go away . It use to be once in a while but now has become a weekly show and if you ask me it all stems from these morons like Blain and Angel that through the help of television has been the reason this mm has come back into relevance

What other close up effects were revealed?
Re: Masked Magician making a COMPLETE Ass of himself
I couldn't make it through that, but he deserves it....jackass.
I've always known that effect as Poker Player's Picnic and I learned it from Royal Road. I talk about how all card games have a draw phase and a discard phase and go through the shtick and then have them reveal the aces at the end. Laypeople love it.

I agree, this was painful to watch. Along with not knowing what to do it appears he did not know what to say. This is a great example of what not to do.
To the person that inquired about the correct method..this is a fairly self-working effect. Have aces secretly on top and make four piles with the top portion containing the aces being the last pile in the row. Have spectator take the first pile (which was originally on the bottom portion of the deck) and place the top 3 cards on the bottom of that packet and then deal one on top of the other three packets. Repeat the process for the other packets bringing the effect to conclusion.
When you are handling the final packet you are simply taking the previously placed cards on the bottom which brings the aces back to the top and then placing an ace on the previous three packets. As long as the audience is unaware of the stack and your instructions are delivered in a casual manner they find it quite magical.
Thanks for the above references I will now check those sources for other presentations - I started doing it using 4 aces then I used this method for 'spec finds 4 random selections' when I worked behind the bar. I could pour while someone else did the magic part.

I thought they hired a dancer to put on the mask for this round of indecent exposure.
