Pro hoop versus Blaney hoop

Postby wanmagic » August 23rd, 2008, 2:37 am

Does any one know if the pro hoop put out by Doug Tilford infringes on Blaney's hoop?

Unless the law protects Blaney's idea or mechanism, you can't use the word "infringes." It's a legal term.

"Does it copy" Blaney's prop would be the way to phrase it.

Ok, does the pro hoop copy the blaney hoop or is it different.

If it had the same MO, I would almost bet that Walter Blaney would have already contacted him.

Years ago at a FL State Convention, Mr Blaney was kind enough to let me examine the ladder illusion and his hoop. I believe he told me of legally shutting down someone who had tried to copy it.

I thought Tilford advertised in Genii that he was retiring?

He is retiring, in fact, I wished him a happy retirement on this forum, after more than 28 years as a dealer. Not many seem to share my sentiment, as nobody else posted happy retirement wishes. But my guess is many readers here have purchased from him. So with him retiring I guess it's a moot point. Last time I checked Tilford's website he seemed to be clearing the closet with some sharp pricing.

The pro hoop is different from Blaney's hoop.

Both of Blaney's are better.

I have one of the first "Great White Hoops" that Blaney sold. I bought it more than 20 years ago. It still works just fine.

His stainless steel hoop is very nice. It's pricey, but if you want something that will last longer than you will, this is it!
