The World Premier of the Jerry Andrus Movie

Postby George Olson » October 25th, 2008, 3:46 pm

Last night at the Hollywood Theater in Portland, Oregon, the new movie/documentary: Andrus, the Man, the Mind, & the Magic
premiered.

Over 100 folks enjoyed and hour of a retrospective into the wonderful and varied life of the legend that is Jerry Andrus.

Narrated by the Amazing Randy, Ray Hyman, and Jamy Ian Swiss, among others, the movie brought laughs, tears, and cheers for one of the greatest men I have ever met. It captured his character, integrity, and curiosity as it profiled his many many accomplishments.

Many rare film clips of Jerry as a comedy act, at a test of a clairvoyant in Ray's laboratory, in his backyard with his brother demonstrating many of his Optical illusions.

The DVD is now available and it includes a "Tri-zonal Space warper" which is great. However, you might not need one right now, what with the dizzying array of politcal ads we're being bombarded with these days.

Andrus, the Man, the Mind, & the Magic is well worth your time and energy to embrace the history of a true Renaissance Man.

I will be reviewing the film in the January '09 issue of Genii, so I don't want to go into detail here, but I will say that George's comment, "It's worth it," is an understatement.

I've watched my copy and bought another for a friend because I didn't want to risk passing this on and not getting it back.

Very worthwhile.

I would also add that Robert Neary is a generous and helpful person. I'm looking forward to what he's produced.
