Listening to internet radio ( audio streaming )...........any idea of how many MB per hour of bandwidth is getting used?
I believe video and audio combo uses about 100 MB per hour.
This question may seem trivial to Americans. I read the other day that some service providers in the USA ( due to the popularity of You Tube and others) are capping users at 250 GB!
Geez, I got to get by on 2 GB per month.

Re: Internet radio
It's a question of maths, but the units get confused. Bandwidth tends to be measured in bits, and total amounts in bytes. If you have streaming audio at 32kb/s, that's 4KB/s. A quick sum gives you 240KB/min and 14400KB/hour. At 1024KB in a MB, that is 14MB/hour. Your 2GB limit can take just over 145 hours at this bandwidth.
A lot of internet video clips are encoded at around 300kb/s, which would give you roughly 130MB/hour. This would give you almost 16 hours of video.
Take care, Ian

I think most streaming audio services (pandora and last.fm certainly) do 128 streams. 56MB per hour. Then that's just 36 hours to get to his 2 gig cap.
I am grateful the dataplan on my iPhone is uncapped.

Ian was much more helpful than me :)
So he should get about 85% of your thanks.
