John Adam's HBO Mini-series

Discussions of new films, books, television shows, and media indirectly related to magic and magicians. For example, there may be a book on mnemonics or theatrical technique we should know or at least know about.

John Adam's HBO Mini-series

Postby mai-ling » September 3rd, 2008, 1:58 pm

If you haven't seen it, you should.
I would suggest seeing it before
"The Adams Chronicles."

Although the CGI and elaboration is
much grander in the HBO series over the
Masterpiece Theatre series, but then its a 30
year time difference in technology.

Plus the chronicles talks about the different
generations of Adams in 13 episodes.
John beginning as a lawyer, congress, president.
John Quincy as secretary of state, president, congress,
all the way to Charles who operated the
railroad company.

My mom is a huge Abigal and John Adam's
fanatic. She knows a lot...

So in turn I have learned from her, her
interest and visiting Peacefield and the
homes in Quincy.

The point of this is that in the last
episode of the HBO series, where John is
in his 90's and he's viewing the painting
of the enactment of the signing of the Declaration
of Indepndence and he told the painter how
its not how it happens and go on and on about it.

But the words when he looked at it and said something the like:

"Their all Dead! All Dead!"
'except for Thomas and I'

before they both kicked the bucket on
the 50th anniversary. With the famous
line John say's.

Hearing "They're all Dead" made me laugh.

because that's exactly what we say in
the house when we read, look at photos
and such stuff of Magicians.

Because "They're all dead"

At least most of them are.

that is all, disperse.

I agree . The HBO/Tom Hanks produced "John Adams" film is well worth watching.

Would that the present nominees for public office (all of them) would watch this and truly pledge in their actions as well as with their words to uphold the Constitution of the United States.

re-read the story.

THEY ARE ALL DEAD!

anyway, there have been other threads about
other movies that have nothing indirectly to
do with magic on the forum.

I saw the mini series and loved it.....

Some of our forefathers were great statesmen, especially those who were paid to reside for years in Paris....That must have been some tough duty....

Gentle Ben died of the cursed...you know......There were probably others who died of the old loving disease, but we can forgive them, because they did their jobs to win our nation for us....

Adams, in the series, was pretty straight laced....I wonder....

But you are right, mai-ling.....THEY ARE ALL DEAD!! BLESS THEM!

They pulled off some pretty good tricks....no puns intended...tsk tsk...

every day when we are eating our meals
and i look at the Sallas drawing of
the magic roundtable and try to name
each person.

with the exception of maybe 10 people,

they are all dead.
