Welcome Back, Friends ...

Postby Richard Kaufman » January 16th, 2008, 5:58 pm

Welcome back. I've started approving the registrations of those I know receive Genii. Any sneaky folks will be weeded out later this week.
Things will be quieter here now, however the level of discourse should be better.

Richard,

I've always been one of the lurkers on the forum and never got around to registering - even though I have been a subscriber to Genii for several years. Your decision to change the forum finally got me off the dime.

Great forum and a great magazine! I'm looking forward to being more active.

Glad to see that we made it through with no apparent technical glitches. Thanks Richard -- and Brad!

Wow that was easy, maybe I will put in more posts now. I read this forum every day but never had much to say. I do love the magazine so keep up the great job with everything. Thanks Robert. :)

Richard, I am currently not a subscriber to Genii. I also answered the question on the application form truthfully (not a subscriber at this time). If this should be my final post, I wanted to re-register to be able to read this forum. I feel that the invaluable information it provides, helps me to be a better Magician.
Thank you for your dedication to the World of Magic and to this Forum.

Good point -- I'll add my thank you to Richard, Brad and Jim. The only glitch I encountered was not being able to reuse my previous user name - it's marked as reserved. (But that may have been a self-inflicted wound from registering prematurely. When the dust settles maybe we can fix it then.)

Mark Williams, you will always be able to read the Forum, just not post. If you live in Vegas, why not mosey over to one of the many Houdini magic shops and buy a copy each month. Then you can post. :)

Well Done, Richard

..............what a great idea it is to allow only Genii subscribers to post.

You will lose some posters, that is to be expected, but I imagine that you will, or should, gain many new subscriptions.

You and your team are to be congratulated on the smooth transition that this has been.

Cheers, as always, from the Emerald Isle,
John Bowden.............the Irish Magician.

Richard got my subscription today. I was also a fence sitter, always meaning to subscribe but never getting around to it. So I hope it works out well for Genii magazine.

Greetings...

The whole process of re-registering was very quick and simple. If my memory serves me well, I believe Genii Forum originally asked members to register with their real name, to prevent exactly what had happened. All efforts will be well worth the trouble to restore the integrity of the forum.

Hi All,
I read the forum often, but haven't posted in the past. Perhaps that'll change. Anyhow, it is good to be here.
Thanks,
Grey

I am re-registered and it was easy!! Thanks Richard--I am proud to be a subscriber and to have this forum as an additional benefit to my subscription. I found it extremely interesting that some of the folks that talk the most, have the strongest opinions and always have something to sell--were the first ones to run for the hills when told they should subscribe to enjoy this benefit. Go figure!!

To paraphrase a famous philosopher...

"I subscribe, therefore I post to forum."

Lame, I know...

Here's to many new subscriptions to Genii. Good on you, Richard and crew!

Good to be back! (Only three member numbers behind Steve Snediker...)

I've got a bizarre login name, though. (Not the name you see.) My finger slipped, I typed an extra letter, and then hit "submit." Only when I got my confirmation email did I realize what a doofus I was.

Hope I can remember how to log in! :D

The only downside to all of this is that I have lost my "007" membership number. I can longer call myself the James Bond of Magic :)

Will the avatar work? I see one can be specified in the profile, but I haven't seen any so far...

I'm all for the new posting requirements. Got tired of the mad rush to the forum every time the big green board crashed.
