Re: August Issue of Genii has been Mailed
I signed up to Genii just to be sure to get this issue. Unfortunately it seems there is no time to process my subscription for a few weeks.
I sure hope the back issues don't sell out before I get my hands on mine. I've been reloading the back issues page every day and still no sign of it.
Can't wait to have it in hand.

Re: August Issue of Genii has been Mailed
Hmmm... I still haven't received the July issue! I understand I live overseas and should take the issue a longer time to arrive, but since it's nearly August, should I start worrying about it?

To be honest, I don't remember :o. Perhaps it's the delay, so I guess I will wait and find out.

Arrived in Northwest Metro Atlanta today, 7/25. What a lovely cover! Great pose and excellent texturing, coloring and contrast. I'd like to have a copy of the cover picture sans type to frame and hang with my other photos, posters, etc. Thanks for another memorable issue!

Re: August Issue of Genii has been Mailed
..hey richard, that's okay. there is so much material in magic magazine, which arrived in stores more than a week ago, that will keep me occupied until genii comes.
i like to read on my back deck, though, so i do hope it arrives before the cold weather sets in.

..haven't checked in here for a long time, so i missed the reason for this issue being late, so please change my complaints to sincere condolences.

Re: August Issue of Genii has been Mailed
Much to my chagrin, Gene Matsuura (proving that he reads everything very closely) found two errors in my description of The Spread.
There are two "lefts" that should be "rights."
The first is corner of the packet onto which the right third fingertip lands: it is the outer RIGHT corner.
The second is the direction in which the right hand moves after the palmed card is pushed out of the hand: the right hand moves to the RIGHT, spreading the cards.
I will correct this information in Genii Speaks in the September issue.
Note that if you follow the two sets of photos which explain The Spread, these are correct, and the arrows are correct.

Some great Vernon photos!

Re: August Issue of Genii has been Mailed
I got the Aug issue yesterday and immediately devoured the Vernon articles. (Has anyone mentioned that the entire section can be pulled out intact?) I just want to thank Richard for taking the time and effort to put the 2nd half of that section together. It is truly inspiring.

Re: August Issue of Genii has been Mailed
A really fantastic issue...I really enjoyed Jim Steinmeyer's comments on America's Got Talent...the Vernon material is -- as others have said -- remarkable...
I thought the Peter Nardi article was valuable for any business...and some of his comments are making me want to put more effort into the way that I "package" myself as a performer...
the one thing I think is unfortunate about Allakazam -- and this shows up in the free DVD -- is that there appears to be some carelessness about crediting...there's been discussion on the forum about the teaching of Docc Hilford's peek sans permission or credit on the Stealth Assassin DVD...on the Genii disks are two routines that use a great Jacob Daley packet switch...in the first routine, no effort is made to credit the move....in the second routine, it gets credited first to Derren Brown, then to Juan Tamariz, then to Bob Cassidy (one gets the impression they're rattling off a list of everyone they've seen do the move)
For a company that obviously invests a great deal of time, money, and thoughtfulness in releasing products to market, this sloppiness is disappointing...
