Regals review

Postby 000 » July 2nd, 2008, 9:57 am

I refer to David regals review of Invisible, by Jay Sankey(Genii, June issue). In it he states that 'done poorly,( the Invisible deck) it will still amaze people'
I agree, but only because its such a good effect!
Know any others like it?

Not sure what you're asking for... tricks that you can do badly and still amaze people?

Nah, sponges require false transfers and misdirection. How about Scotch & Soda?

'done poorly still amazes people'

Just think of that for a moment....perhaps missing my point here.

Right: theoretically, nothing done poorly would amaze anyone.

But I have seen horrible, painful performances of say, "The $100 Bill Switch", or "The Torn and Restored Newspaper" that have made me all scrunched-up and uncomfortable inside, just waiting for the crowd to turn on the performer who seemed to me to be obviously ham-handedly butchering the tricks, only to see even those horrible performances absolutely knock some people out.

Question

Did Vernon perform the Invisible Deck much ? ( or prefer to rely on sleight of hand?)

The egg bag? I guess it depends on how poorly we're talking about.

Might apply to productions which seem siginificant, say a dovesteal done into a newspaper or fountain of silks from a pocket handkerchief or professor cheer's rope...
Mundus vult decipi -per Caleb Carr's story Killing Time
