Postby Rachel Milano » June 26th, 2008, 5:32 pm

Does anyone here do this great routine. Check this YouTube video out. Magical coin work indeed.

Lovely, indeed, but what would he do without multiple nesting shells?

Well, he could still do this routine, there's actually only one shell, as such. What Eric does with multiples, you don't wanna know.

You're right. That's as close to real magic as I've seen in a long time, no matter how he does it.

That looked terrific. I read Fingertips Pt. 1. The opening production, and closing vanish that Eric used in this video are not in the notes. I like what Eric does in the video better.

I agree Richard...but the lay person doesn't know that.

The Expletive Vanish (also on youtube) also looks very nice.

Also, if I may: what difference does it make what he would do without multiple nesting shells? Are gaffs not allowed anymore?

They're allowed, but it's easy to fool magicians with multiple nesting coins, and the tricks are a hell of a lot easier, because you don't have to palm the coins! That makes a big damn difference. You also can't have your coins examined, or place them in the spectator's hands. That makes a big difference.

The Expletive Vanish looks wonderful. I sure hope it is very angly, otherwise it could be giving my ring magic a kick up the backside....

If you vanish all the coins at the end, as Eric does, the spectator can examine the invisible coins all he wants to.

Vanishing all the coins might not remove suspicion--it might, in fact, create suspicion.

This isn't trick photography William. What you see is what is actually happening. Watch the video closely. Rachel.

Mr. Kaufman,

I hear what you're saying. Yes, not being able to examine the coins at the conclusion is a problem and I've already considered and tackled it. One of my solutions was to do "free and unlimited coinage of silver", on three separate places on a table, and at the conclusion of my routine have the spectator's lift the objects to reveal the coins. Yet another option i've employed, would be to show my pocket empty and have the coins one at a time arrive there. Another still would be to do as Mr. McClintock does and use a flying fifties gimmick and glass. What i've illustrated on video was my basic handling for my original Oxy Clean Coin Routine. I had people who were interested in the second production and the one of the vanishes.

I really wish you could have made it to the lecture I was honored to give a few months back at Magi-Whirl. Perhaps I could have addressed some of your concerns then. It was nice meeting you there anyway, your interview was very informative.

Eric Jones

OH, and this routine CAN be done with 3 regular halves...
