Mike Skinner Notebooks?

Postby SCobalt » May 19th, 2008, 6:07 pm

I was recently reading that Michael Skinner kept notebooks similar to the Cervon Notebooks, documenting the magic shown to him by Dai Vernon. Does anyone know where these notebooks currently reside?
Thanks,
Shane

Hi Cobalt--where did you find the information about Michael Skinner's notebook? Was it in an old issue of Genii ? That's certainly news to me.

I understand Skinner had no wife or children, but he did leave behind a sister and three nieces (I believe).

MIchael Skinner was married a few months before he passed away.

I was reading a book that I can't recall at the moment. But it distinctly mentioned Skinned maintaining books of Vernon material shown to him.

Michael Skinner left the notebooks to John Carney in his will, and with the help of Michael's sister he was able to obtain them.

That's up to Carney since he owns them.

Confirmed. He had not married although he and fiancee planned to.

So John Carney has the notebooks...hmm. I always assumed that Skinner's sister inherited his library, props, and other personal belongings.

I wonder if those notebooks were the ones that appeared in the November 2000 Genii Skinner tribute issue. That issue contained several photographs of a small spiral bound notebook that listed a slew of effects in its table of contents.

Thanks Gary, I suspected that.

Perhaps Mr. Carney will one day share some of its contents.
