Postby Guest » September 7th, 2006, 9:27 am

A little advanced notice....2 great lectures coming up.

Midwest Magic has some GREAT events in store for you!

On Friday evening, September 29th at 7 p.m., Midwest Magic is proud to present featured lecturer and performer at FISM in Den Haag,

Richard Sanders

Called by Jay Sankey, "One of the best kept secrets in magic," Richard Sanders is a boni fide, underground treasure. His material has appeared in such respected magazines as The Magical Arts Journal, New Directions, Genii, The Magic Menu, and Frances Arcane, and his marketed items have infiltrated the working repertoires of magicians around the world. David Acer wrote, "When Richard Sanders picks up a deck of cards, the cards quite simply sing. His Elmsley Counts, his Double Lifts, his Classic Passes are mesmerizing, because he has that quality that ability to bring a technique to life in greater abundance than anyone else Ive ever known! Add to that an excellent sense of theatre and a dynamic performing style and youve got one exceptional magical entertainer."

Really terrific stuff!--Mike Close

Make no mistake, this is very cool magic!--Kenton Knepper

One of the best kept secrets in magic!--Jay Sankey

Heres what to expect:

Featuring devious methods and effects from one of Canadas busiest professionals.

There are no pipe dreams here just clever, amazing magic that hits laymen between the eyes!

Richard's brand new lecture features revolutionary new work on Bill Switches and Super Commercial Card Changes, an amazing 5 minute walk-around rope routine featuring eye-popping new moves and techniques that will stun your audiences, plus routines with pictures, markers, chewing gum, limes, pocket change, business cards and a whole lot more. All the material is commercial and super practical.

Slow Burn: The real work from Richard's HOT DVD featuring a super visual 4 bill change...you wont believe your eyes! The performer clearly displays both sides of four bills one at a time before laying them down on his left palm. He shows his right hand empty, turns it palm down, and waves it gently over the bills, causing them to change instantly into four different bills! Bills are show back and front before and after the change.

Fiber Optics: An extraordinary rope routine, featuring 15 stunning visual phases, 22 new moves and the diabolical techniques you need to accomplish them! It's 4-5 minutes of amazement and visual magic that will leave your spectator's heads spinning!.

Super Cards: A brand new system for super amazing card changes that can be used in literally dozens of ways. Watch as four cards change into 4 other cards IN THE SPECTATORS HANDS! Witness one of the most visual packet tricks you will ever see! Spread the deck revealing that all the cards are blank--EXCEPT FOR THE SPECTATORS THOUGHT OF CARD! And much more--this is a concept that you will be using!

Trick Photography: A selected card vanishes from the spectator's hand and reappears inside your hand--in a picture! Devious technique and immediately repeatable for professional work.

Behind My Back: In the cleanest manner possible, a selected card vanishes from the deck held behind the performers back and reappears in the performer's mouth! No sleight of hand required.

Mr. Stickman: A drawing of a stickman vanishes and reappears on the backs of different cards in the pack ending on the signed selection. Completely impromptu, super visual magic that you will perform.

The Double Bill Switch: Upgrade your regular hundred-dollar bill switch. A borrowed bill changes denomination twice and is given out for examination.

Cramped, The Bill In Marker Cap: The most super practical bill in borrowed object you will ever see. A borrowed bill vanishes and reappears in the marker that the spectator has been holding onto the entire time. The spectator himself pulls the bill out of the marker cap.

Trident Sugarless Bill: A deviously updated approach to the age-old classic bill in lemon routine. A bill is borrowed and ends up inside an unopened package of gum. The spectator himself has to break open the seal of the gum only to find his bill inside one of the wrappers. And more!

Shaken: Visual magic at its most visual! Watch as the spots on the back of a playing card VISUALLY REARRANGE themselves to form the outline of the selected card. All this happens on the back of a signed playing card that the spectators keep as a souvenir

Pile of Change: Borrow a penny form a spectator and change it into a quarter, THEN GIVE THE QUARTER TO THE SPECTATOR AS A SOUVENIR. The trick is completely impromptu and you do not require having any money on you and--get ready for this--the trick doesnt cost you anything to perform! Its a devious combination of simple sleight of hand and psychology!

PLUS SOME EXCITING NEW SURPRISES!

QUOTES:

Im a big fan of Richards work!--Chad Long

Intriguing card moves and clever impromptu stuff!--Steve Bedwell

One of the best lectures I have seen in the last 10 years!--Marc Desouza

Richard Sanders is a great magician!--Joshua Jay

Richard Sanders Behind my Back gets close to the absolutely impossible!--Richard Robinson, www.allmagicguide.com

Slow Burn has got to be one of the most visual variants I have ever seen! You literally pass your hand across the bills and they slowly change, just like real magic. This is a very strong effect. Highly recommended!--Steve Brookes, www.themagiccafe.com

Richard Sanders has some of the most inventive effects you'll ever see!--Scott Cram, The Astonishment Site

Tickets are $25 and limited to 25 guests. Call early for a reservation. 847-455-4288

Then, the following Monday, direct from Spain:

Rafael Benatar

Will be lecturing at Midwest Magic on Monday, October 2nd at 7p.m.

He's played pubs, night clubs, and magic theaters like La Cripta Mgica in Madrid. He does steady corporate work, banquets, trade shows, sales meetings, and private events. I first met him at FISM in Portugal and look forward to seeing him any time I can. Rafael Benatar is a consummate professional and will be teaching some of his latest card and coin tricks, as well as his cups and balls routine with an e-mail theme. He wil also cover aspects of timing, misdirection and the use of patter--areas in which he is considered a master. He possesses that essential factor that separates the outstanding magician from all the others: charm. He will amaze and astonish you, but you are so charmed by his personality that you could not possibly resent it. Rafael will also be presenting a brand new DVD and the second volume of The Magic of Ascanio, which he translated.

"Rafael is, without any doubt, a master of that weapon, so difficult to
handle, but so greatly efficient, which is timing. "--Ascanio.

"His thinking is superb and his card handling is exquisite."--Michael Close, MAGIC magazine.

"Rafael is not only an excellent performer and entertainer but, even more important, has a thorough understanding of his craft."--Martin A. Nash.

"Rafael has a real flair for presentation and his sleights are smooth as
silk."--Michael Skinner.

CHICAGO BUZZ: "I wish Eddie Marlo was here to see his handling of Devilish Miracle."--Simon Aronson.
"His handling of double cards is a real breakthrough."--David Solomon.
"I witnessed strong commercial magic combined with superb (at times
unbelievably skilful) technique, all brought off with charm and grace."--Steve Draun.

Tickets are $25 and attendance is limited to 25 guests, so make your reservation early! 847-455-4288
