Any Magicians near Seattle?
I'm an amature in need of some mentoring. Not looking to take any business, as i am merely an obsessed hobbyist at this point, but would like to begin a professional career. Mostly looking for some experienced magicians I can learn from and chat with. I live in Bremerton, which is a 45 minute ferry ride from the Emerald City. So far it seems I live in a Magically depressed area.

Their are a whole ton of magicians in seattle. We used to have a regular hang out session but unfortunitly most of us have moved out of washington or away from seattle. Mentor's don't usually take walk-ins :)
But as you get to know folks locally you'll find that there is a VERY active community.
Last weekend we had a wonderful lecture on Street Magic (the real kind, not that David Blaine wannabe sillyness) from Eric Evans( http://www.calgarymagic.com/lecture.html )
that was put on by the Northwest Ring of Fire( http://www.nwringoffire.com/ )
There's Stan Kramien's annual get together in Oregon coming on at the end of the month( http://www.magicjamboree.com/home.html ) where you are sure to meet lots of folks from the Seattle area.
There's a magic shop in Pike Place market where you can meet others, find out about upcoming events and etc. and you can, of course, join the IBM Ring in Everett.
There's also the PCAM convention in Canada ( http://www.pcam2007.com/ ) where you are likely to meet Seattle area folks as well. We hosted PCAM a couple of years back and had both Simon Lovell and David ("it's pronounced smith") Acer in attendance. A great time is always had by all at PCAM.
Those would be good resources.
It's also home to some of the worlds best and most knowledgeable card-trick-guys (Hobbs, Mayhew, Dobson, Carpenter).
