Does anyone know of any magic performances/magic shops in the Tokyo area? My wife and I will be there for about the last 10 days of March, 2008.
Any news is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Max Paulson

You might buy the October 2006 issue of Genii which has a review of the best magic bars in Tokyo.

David Roth and I will be doing a double lecture tour through Japan in March, and should be in Tokyo around the time you will be there. I will be glad to e mail you with the exact date and location once the dates are set.

Re: March Magic Shows in the Tokyo area
I was desperately looking for the October issue and could not find it before I left this week. I'm going to be in Tokyo tomorrow afternoon through the next day and I don't have clue where to go :(
Could someone give me directions to at least one of the bars?
Also, where is MagicLand (Ton Onosaka's place, right?). Someone told me it was in a department store, but I thought it was tucked away somewhere off the beaten path.

Doug, the phone number for Magic Land is 03-3666-4749. They are located a few steps from the Kayabacho station on the subway line. Not in a department store, but the second or third floor of a small building.

Thanks for the info, everyone. If anyone else happens to be going to Tokyo, there are visual directions to Ton Onasaka's Magic Land on his website:

Seems pretty easy to get to.

Re: March Magic Shows in the Tokyo area
Thanks Richard! Now that I'm finally re-registered I can reply. I did get ahold of Mama-san and she was very helpful. Unfortunately I was over an hour and a half away (one way) by train and because my plane was leaving at 4:50 pm, I didn't want to take a chance of missing it (it had been a long week). It about killed me not being able to get to their shop. I'll probably be back through Japan again later this year, so now that I'm a little more familiar with what I have to do, I'll make it there.
