Magic PEZ Dispenser

Postby Craig Matsuoka » July 9th, 2003, 2:34 am

New from the "Dentist Nightmares" department:

While I was waiting in line at a local Toys-R-Us, this item caught my eye. It has a little "Drawer Box" thingy at the bottom of the dispenser that vanishes and reproduces a wrapped roll of PEZ candy if you tilt the dispenser the right way.

Does anyone remember any other candy dispensers that were specifically made to do magic tricks?

In the Ben Harris (name corrected) issue of Genii (about a year ago?) Paul suggested an interesting idea for gaffing a box of tic tacs with some quite miraculous effect, but I am not aware of anyone making and marketing it.

It would be cool to have an "Any Flavor Called For" Tic-Tac dispenser.

While we're at it...

Paddle trick lollipops (didn't Steve Spill have something with a Sugar Daddy?)

"Hot Rod" or "Jumping Gems" made out of hard candy.

"Three Fly" Necco wafers?

After we see these products come to market, maybe our cavities will be large enough to take a final mercury load. "Caps & Bills" anyone?

I don't have the issue in front of me but I believe the trick you're thinking of is a BEN Harris effect.

TicTacs vanish (from your hand) and reappear in the box if I remember correctly.

I cannot believe I put the wrong name on that -- sorry Ben!

I'm pretty sure the idea of a lollipop Spellbound has been around for a while. Do it with the older, coin-shaped lollipop, and change is made while the stick remains in view. Dunno who nor where, though...
