Magic's Biggest Namedropper
As part of my effort to become the biggest namedropper in the history of magic, I have posted the following:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5FHqelHQXo
Many of you are in there.
In fact, if you (like Bill Goodwin) are not pictured, please make a point of getting a photo with me next time you see me. I want everybody.

Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
WOW!!! If only I had had the foresight when I started going to the Jubilee's back in '76. Would've had some great shots.
Right now I only have two on the bulletin board: Me with Harry Anderson in '93, and me with Dai Vernon in '76.
Not TOO shabby!!! <grin>

Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
You shameless name dropper.
Why, I was talking about this just the other day with my good friend Patrick Page when Alan Shaxon wandered over and Bobby Bernard asked what we were discussing. Ali Bongo said we should take our discussion outside, but Terry Herbert and John Styles disagreed.
Then I forget what happened.
It is always a great pleasure to see you, Lisa.

Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
Im not sure whats the most impressive to me: That you remembered the names of all those people or you pronounced their names correctly! ;)
Seriously, thats quite the collection. Im truly humbled to be a part of it.
Thanks!

Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
Don't namedrop.........it's totally wrong; (Pavarotti told me that).
Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
This one will be hard to beat:
When I first went to The Magic Castle just over 13 years ago or so, I was sitting at the back of the Pparlour watching a lecture. The lecturer told us something then, addressing someone in the front row, said "Isn't that right Professor" Yes, Dai Vernon was in the room! As a young English magician, I had no idea he was still alive and here he was in the same room as me. That's not the name dropping....
I followed him up to the library and he got talking to another member there. He then casually started a sentence with words that will remain with me forever.....
.
.
.
.
.
"When I was chatting to Houdini...."
It was one of the most surreal moments of my life.

Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
Mr. Allen: That story was the [censored]! Has that moment not made you feel like part of (even if only tangentially) the real inner circle ever since?! Excellent.
P.S.. Ms. Cousins, having recently (briefly) met Mr. Goodwin at the Castle (he may deny this) I wanted to mention: I'm at least 30-38% as attractive as that dude, any day.
P.P.S. Where is the balance of my "Penumbra" subscription?! HA!

Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
Thanks for putting faces to all those famous names.
I've kicked myself for wimping out of the few photo ops I've had, especially Dr. Sawa and Armando Lucero. I'll do my best on May 13 in Tokyo with Michael Ammar.

Nice collection there, Lisa! How many of those were dates? :D
CHS
P.S. Good to see you yesterday, albeit (alas) for only a few moments.

If you're going to be at IBM/SAM, Syd and I will be there, so make sure you get pics with us too.
That's a great tag line, 'The biggest name dropper in magic'. You could use those pics in your act somehow, I bet ;)

Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
He also called Ketchup 'red lead'. Remember that?

Lisa,
You might be careful with that title - I believe Pete has it trademarked and copyrighted. . . . .

Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
someone recently dropped my name to introduce
themselves to a someone.
and in return the person told a story about
me when i was eight years old.
I can only imagine what that was, cuz
there's a lot of stories about me.
Anyway, I gotta warm message from the person,
and I was told they had "Lefty" (yes that
lefty) tattooed on their left hand.
So, hey, if you wanna drop my name,
I don't mind.

Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
I always drop your name, Frances... when I spell it right..
It's frances with an 'e' and not and 'i', because you have 'girl parts', your 'meme' said. ;)
Now how many people are going to ask what a meme is?

Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
After a few years of internet meetings with Lisa, I finally met her face to face at the History conference. She was as charming in person as I expected.
Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
I finally met Lisa at the Magic Collectors' Meeting in Schaumburg, shortly after a conversation with David Ben. I told him what a wonderful time I had meeting Frances Mai-Ling and her parents.
Re: Magic's Biggest Namedropper
these past 2 weeks at the Magic APple allows for some of the "coolest" name dropping ever - and these guys aren't the local regulars.(not trying to show off but: Roberto Giobbi, R Paul, Gary Plants, Gaber Fujari, John Moerhing, Arthur Benjamin, Zany Blaney, Sav, Jason England, Mac King...need I go on)
There are a lot of people that come in the shop and drops names all the time. Quite funny.
