The Card Expert on the film is R.Paul Wilson.
And It looks like Wilsons hands in the movies.

The official web:
http://www.shademovie.com/ (click on Tricks & Shades)
R. Paul Wilson, Earl Nelson, Jason England and Damien Nieman are the hot card experts in this movie
Jason is the stand in for Stallones hands, I belive.

Re: SHADE Trailer
Kjellstrom, your assumptions are false, and it's obvious you have neither seen the film nor read the huge article in Genii last year on Shade.
As far as the website goes, while many of the items are indeed demonstrated by Paul Wilson, others are undoubtedly done by Jason England.
As far as the film goes, all of the shots of Stallone working that I've seen are of HIS own hands.

From another forum, R. Paul Wilson:
"The stand in for Stallone's hands was Michael Zurich BUT - only for shots
we needed in post. During filming Stallone did all his own stuff. "
The info I had was from a magic friend, it was no false statement from myself. I just thought it was a good thing to post here.
My favourite stuff from the Shade web is the amazing The Impulsive Change. Who is the inventor?

Re: SHADE Trailer
I'd read the article quickly before RK has you shot.
Actually, the article is very informative and interesting.
And while Jason didn't do any hand shots for Stallone, I have it on good authority that he was, in fact, the butt double for Thandie Newton and parts of Melanie Griffith.

Re: SHADE Trailer
The original (gaffed) version of the "impulse change" was created by Bob Koch....See: Marlo On The Acrobatic Card..."Visual Poker Hand Change".
Neal Lester made one up for me back in the late seventies.....It was the first time he had ever worked with such a unique construction..he succeeded on the first attempt!
The highly photogenic effect as depicted on the Shade website may not, in fact, employ the Koch method........

Re: SHADE Trailer
Jim, you're right! I've seen Paul Wilson do that using a different handling! He was able to toss the cards on the table for examination afterward.

Re: SHADE Trailer
Well, a search I did shows that March 26 is the release date for the movie. Does anyone have any different info on the release?

Re: SHADE Trailer
It's either March 26 or the first or second week of April, I think things may still be in flux.

Re: SHADE Trailer
I am familiar with the trick "Zapped" which was marketed in the 80's How does this figure into the "impulse Change" lineage?

Re: SHADE Trailer
^^^ It doesn't. The effects named on that site "Zap Change" and "Impulse Change" are transposed and people continue to be confused by it.

Re: SHADE Trailer
The effect where a fan of five cards are brushed with the fingers and changed to four different cards (the face never changed)was marketed at one time as "Zapped." How does that figure into the lineage described by Patton regarding the Visual Poker Hand Change? (I thought the Impulse change was Carpenter's and was the one with the 'single' card outjogged from the pack. So a bit of this thread was confusing to me). Regardless, who marketed "zapped," was it a legitamte item, etc.? Anyone?

Re: SHADE Trailer
Yep, that's correct. It's from Carpenter's book The Expert's Portfolio and has nothing to do with the Zap Change (multiple cards changing in a poker hand).Originally posted by Brad Henderson:

Re: SHADE Trailer
Thanks Chris I sincerely appreciate you clarifying that element, but to the essence of the question at hand: Jim Patton has detailed a history of the fan of card change in this post. In that history he does not mention the marketed version of Zapped. Where does that fit in. Was it liscensed by Koch? Was it pirated, independant creation?
Just curious as the trick made an impression on me when I was young.
