Kaps on Ed Sullivan Show

Discussions of new films, books, television shows, and media indirectly related to magic and magicians. For example, there may be a book on mnemonics or theatrical technique we should know or at least know about.

Kaps on Ed Sullivan Show

Postby Kevin Wiese » January 21st, 2003, 9:21 am

PBS is airing classic (edited) episodes of the Ed Sullivan Show. Fred Kaps appears in one that is upcoming. It also happens to be the same show with the debut of some band called The Beatles.

Wasn't that the band that Paul McCartney was in before Wings?

It doesn't appear as if this episode will be airing in LA on 2/1. All I see is an episode featuring Bobby Darin on 12/25. Still, I set my replayTV to record this show every week.

If I find out the air date in LA I'll post it here, and will appreciate if anyone else does the same.

Carl Ballantine was on in the fall; don't recall the date.

Interestingly, Fred Kaps did not appear live on the Ed Sullivan show that evening...he was shown on tape delay unlike the Beatles and the night's other performers.

The episode I recorded this past week featured Bobby Darin and the magic of Peter Pitt.

It was nice to see Peter Pitt do his dancing cane routine. (Is one end of the hookup up in the proscenium?). But at the end he just grabs the thread and breaks it off the cane. My wife noticed this immediately.
