Ellery Queen Cover

Discussions of new films, books, television shows, and media indirectly related to magic and magicians. For example, there may be a book on mnemonics or theatrical technique we should know or at least know about.

Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine has a nice magic theemed cover, but no story to go along with it. http://www.themysteryplace.com/eqmm/

I suspect that it's a reprint of a 1945 cover by George Salter

I Googled the name "Diabolo Scarlatti" that's printed on the side of the apparatus, and this index came up.

Salter, George,
--Professor Diabolo Scarlatti, #23, July, 1945.

Which is just why it is so difficult to understand the relationship between the two Salters, one in magic and one not!

Don't forget the Ellery Queen Mystery Mag that was printed as a force magazine. Credit Richard Himber and his connections.

This book was replicated by Al Mann with better paper on the inside.

It says here that this was the April, 1951 issue, which is available fairly cheaply.
