You tube clip of Penn and Teller

Discussions of new films, books, television shows, and media indirectly related to magic and magicians. For example, there may be a book on mnemonics or theatrical technique we should know or at least know about.

To those of you for whom the attached clip is horribly old-hat, I appologize.

For those of you that may not have seen this footage, Happy New Year!

Thanks for that. It's one of my favorite P&T pieces.

you know, every time I see that clip, I swear to God that Teller is actually doing different moves at the beginning. Maybe I'm seeing it wrong, but to just do those moves and explain them seem too easy for them.
Just a thought.

Thanks for posting that! I saw it on TV way back and always wanted to see it again. Great routine.

It's a clever routine that's well presented except for the idiot director who cut away at the climax to show a woman reacting in the audience when he should have stayed on Teller who was just completing the vanish of the cigarette. The routine built nicely to the unexpected vanish of the cigarette which the director managed to kill.

Not the first hack tv director who has failed to understand theatrical magic.
