if you need help from a multi award winning magician

A place where beginners can participate, ask questions, and post their views. However, beginners typically ask a lot of questions about sources, tricks, books, and so on. In fact, all magicians are interested (or should be) in the provenance of tricks, ideas, and related matters. This department will service these needs.

Brilliant. I need to know how to do silent comedy mntalism on stage with a close up kinda of feel. I will be using a mix of fire, coins, cards and packet tricks.

What's your advice?

I'm guessing none of those awards were for things like subtlety or humility.

Just an observation. :D

And certainly not for spelling or grammar.

This is so ridiculous that I'm fairly sure that it's a wind-up. It can't be real, surely?

I really hope not.

I mean the site was built on free hosting, using somekind of 'wizard' to do it as it's so horrible. The content couldn't have taken more than 10 mins to write, then he comes here offering his expert advice to (myself excluded) some of the most experienced magicians in the world.

Maybe it's Mark Lewis?

But yes, it's so bad it *has* to be a joke.

Looks like he also goes by the name of "Magic Dave" (catchy!) and on this site it appears he has been doing magic for an additional 5 years....

http://www.freewebs.com/dloosley/

"Stage: 45 mins of mayhem ,includes silent act, comedy, mentalism and excitement. Charge: 60"

Deary me..... would be good if he could show us his silent act :)

And if you want details of his multiple awards (providing you can stand the noise!) you can go to:

http://www.freewebs.com/ymcmember/

"we ourselfs are multi award winning magicians with a multi award winning act, including the kaymar kommedy cup and the pete mcCahon originality award."

So there you go.....

BTW, for our American cousins, the above unfortunately does seem to be the level of English they are teaching in our schools these days.

There used to be the old joke about two nations divided by a common language.... however, I am not that sure they speak English in England any more... at least not the same language I was taught (partly to blame, of course, is the SMS culture and the mobile phone permanently welded to most teenagers thumbs)

I am not sure, but I believe that English is no longer even a compulsory part of the GCSE curriculum (or whatever it is they have invented to give under-achievers a qualification regardless of their abilities these days) ...

Mystify
The ocean is very deep.
There's so much to learn about this amazing art.
It take a little more than 5 years I'm sorry to say.

The kid identified on one of the link sites looks suspiciously like the kid on YouTube who was explaining "The World's Greatest Card Trick."

This may be an example of the old saying, "The confidence of amateurs is the envy of professionals."

Look dude, he's won awards (although not in spelling ).

Let's wait to see what advice he can offer us. He sounds like the real deal to me.

Damian,

My right leg is already longer than my left. Keep pulling, but please change legs and even them out.

David

I am no expert, nor award winner in the pulling of legs. Maybe Mystify is? Let's ask him when he comes back to regale us with his advice.

I think you are right - perhaps we have been too quick to judge. Clearly he has employed a poor Web design team who have made some significant mistakes - that should clearly not be taken as an indication of his skills as a magician, or lack thereof. His silky chops and slick presentation in the YouTube video left me speechless at the time.

Anyone with that many awards and a video on YouTube deserves our respect. I await, swine-like and with bated breath, his pearls of wisdom.

Looking at those pics, I may have been confused over the identities of Mystify and Magic Dave - my apologies.

But who, enquiring minds are dying to know, is Mephisto Joe?

It is an Erdnase-like mystery that we need the most highly regarded scholars here to help us solve
