BERT W. A. JOHNSTON

A place where beginners can participate, ask questions, and post their views. However, beginners typically ask a lot of questions about sources, tricks, books, and so on. In fact, all magicians are interested (or should be) in the provenance of tricks, ideas, and related matters. This department will service these needs.

Does anyone have any information about Bert W. A. Johnston, the leading Canadian magician from the nineteen twenties?

This is the short write up from Bart Whaley's "Who's Who In Magic". Short, but it's a start.

Johnston, Bert W. A.
(Toronto, Canada: 14 Sep 1878- ) Pro. Began as a medicine show magician. Toured a full-evening show thru northern and western Canada in 1920s. Later (1930s) toured Canada with the Marks family dramatic shows. [Bo3]
