There are five cards in front of you:
KC, 7H, AS, 4C 9S
Please think of one of them.
Great!
Now think of a different card with a different color.
Wonderful...
The card you are thinking of is....the SEVEN of HEARTS!
...and before that you were thinking of the NINE of SPADES....
I told you I can read your mind...

Re: I can read your mind...
Most would choose 4C or 9S initially.
KC is the sole court card, 7H is the sole red card, and AS is "too obvious".
And hence they'll end up with 7H. As I did ..... but I did choose 4C initially, not 9S.

Re: I can read your mind...
So no one read "Vernon's 5 card mental force" and understood why THOSE cards and no others were used? The card choices above are inferior and do not get the same results let alone the best way to present the trick is to get them to THINK about their choice, always enforced by making it a "bet" with money involved so that they must rationalize their choice.

In this case as TEXT I wonder if the card choices are also workable.
