Living in France I have some difficulties to find alphabet cards (not art ones) just simple block charaters....

The game called "Probe" (published by Parker Brothers between 1964 and 1982 -- you want the earlier one) is a great source of alphabet cards (if you are not worried about back design)...
In the complete set, you get 96 alphabet cards with each of four different colored backs.
On eBay right now, there are at least 26 of these.
Quite an opportunity for magical creativity, actually.

Very good quality and reasonable prices. I'm sure he can make cards with letters as well.

Also, I would look on the web for teaching supplies. Kindergarten teachers use these routinely and you should be able to get them at a reasonalbe price and delivered right to your door.
