Radiation

Postby mike cookman » October 27th, 2003, 7:05 pm

I hope I am not out of line here, but I'm going for some radiation tomorrow for a tumor in my brain and I'm kind of scared, so I just want to say that I enjoy this forum so much that I look forward to logging in each day and communicating with so many magical pals. I'll be gone for a few days, but will be looking forward to coming back here to see what's what. Im going to bring The Collected Almanac and a deck of cards with me, seeing as how I will have plenty of practice time. Thanks. See you soon..

Best wishes from Florida, Mike. You'll do fine.

And you've picked a good book to recupe with. Look for the semi-hidden improvement to the Bandaid routine. That'll keep you busy in between the nurses checking on you!

Be sure and let us know when you get home. :)

Mike, I just want to say that we will keep a good thought out west. I know what a scary thing 'science' can be. I have spent entirely too much time in smelly hospitals myself. Keep your magic in mind, and remember the thoughts and prayers going out from the four corners of the map. One bit of advice, when they say, "Stay real still now," it would probably be a good idea to stay still ;)

Best wishes for a quick trip home,
Mark

Mike, you'll do just fine!

My wife had "Gamma Knife" Surgery three months ago here in Portland, it went great -- they attacked a tumer on her brain stem on Monday -- she was back to work on Friday.

If that's what you're having there is no pain!

Our prayers are with you...

GO ;)

Just a brief message to give you my best wishes. Don't worry for the procedure, it's painless.

Best.

MIKE: All will be good. My stepson's natural mother just had this treatment a week ago and all is good and prognosis is excellent.

All Geniite's thoughts are with you... :)
Stay tooned.

Hey guys, thanks for all the nice thoughts and wishes. The gamma knife proceedure really isnt that bad, and unlike an MRI it is very quiet. If fact, they let me listen to cd's the whole time. It's amazing, they work on your brain on Tuesday and Im sitting here at home on Thursday and I'll be back to work on Saturday. I worked on Paul Harris' BIological Shuffle for a while, as well as a couple of other tricks. Was kind of weird with the iv thing on the back of my hand, but it made the stay less boring. Again, thanks for everything.

Thanks, Tommy. And George, you sure did tell me so. That frame they nailed to my head was the only thing I didnt much care for, because I had to sit with it for a few hours before the proceedure. But they did have to plan the thing out, so it's better I be uncomfortable for a while than they zap some of the radiation in the wrong place. Whew.
