Hi - I am glad to see that my two CD recordings - Commercial Cold Reading and Further Commercial Cold Reading - both by Richard Webster achieved $51 in auction. They can be purchased at most magic shops in the USA at $20 each which offers a saving of $11 on the auction price!

And very good they are too. I only have the first one but it was very valuable indeed. Even if it cost $100 it would still be a bargain. You can get back $100 in one full length reading.

If anyone wants to be a reader all they really need to do do is study everything Richard Webster has written. Any other book by any other author is really secondary. It might be worth looking at but you can look at it later. Webster really has to come first.

Unless of course you get something produced by me!
I believe Martin has something. He calls it "confessions of a psychic"

I never did like the title. It makes me sound guilty of something or other.

Mind you it was used as part of a study on psychics by Northampton University at one time. It was on a website somewhere but I think it is not there anymore. I will do a search though and have a look.

Opie. I have never been to Phoenix in my life. I am sure that this is a cause for major rejoicing among the good population of Arizona.

That is a much better looking Mark Lewis.
It is not me.
I wish it was.

I have heard of him, though. He presents a show featuring psychics.

Incidentally, this is a fantastic way of getting clients. I know one or two psychics who have Radio shows or TV shows on cable networks.

They don't get paid for any of this but they do get plenty of clients from it. Of course this is why they do it.

Incidentally I have found that Radio is a far better medium for attracting clients that Television. Don't ask me why. Or maybe it is because I don't look like the other Mark Lewis

It has now dawned up on me that I do have a video tape lasting an hour. This features me on a psychic TV show called "Psychic Dimension" I am on there as the feature interviewee. I am being interviewed by a fellow psychic.

I have been meaning to put this on my website for sales purposes. I would sell it at $20 US. PLus postage of course. If anyone is interested they can use that Pay Pal thing on my website or send me money by another method.

It is only an interview (no methods disclosed) but I do respond to phone in calls from the great Canadian public.

Since I am not a member of the PEA I do a card trick or two on the show.

Anyway, send me $20 plus postage if you want it. If you don't want it I shall be quite used to it. I have never sold the video in my life.

However, I have decided to nominate it as my wondrous new product. It may be useful for people to see how a psychic works in a real situation with the whole world watching.

I have just decided to move back to England in the last few seconds.

I have heard tales from Joe Turner about you, Opie. If you were to take residence in my garage I think it would frighten the neighbours.

tsk tsk....I am sure Jose gave a glowing report of my calm, loving demeanor.....which translates, regarding loving, de meanor they are, the more I love 'em.....But you knew that, being a psychic and all... :0p

Oh, speaking of psychic stuff, my friend Brad Henderson says he is coming out with a book on Cold Readings....I will really be interested in your review of the work....Brad is good; he can take a three minute reading and stretch it to at least 30 minutes....Anyway, I will let you know when it comes out....

...sincerely, the best to you and yours...opie

I have heard about his book.
He talks about ethics in it.
Ethics and psychic readings are a very tricky balance.
It will be interesting to see what he has to say on the matter.
When you are doing readings you are walking an ethical tightrope. You must not fall off.
Of course some people don't even bother putting the rope up.
I have heard horrific tales of psychics removing curses for sexual favours.
Naturally I know that nobody here would do that.

You are really good, Mark....I guess I was pretty transparent in trying to get a review for my friend's book....If you give him a good review, he will sell 10,000 copies, and if you give him a bad review, he will sell 20,000....

You know, as well as I do that anybody interested in the field is not going to read the ethics chapter anyway....

And I can honestly say that I have never heard of Brad removing curses, or anything for that matter, for sexual favors...

Okay, the secret is out: Please review the book when it comes out; the boy could use the money, as I am trying to get him to join a local magic club....

To review the book, Opie -I would have to buy it.
I have now given up readings and have made a vow never to buy anything appertaining to it.
I think I might join the debunkers instead if I can earn any money doing it.

I think you have stated that nobody will read the ethics chapter because you want to stir up trouble.A psychic vibe I get.

You are partially right though. The reason there is not much written about ethics in cold reading is because there is not much demand for it.

A lot of people getting into this kind of work do not pay attention to the fact that they have peoples lives in their hands. Still, you may be overstating the case a trifle. I do believe that there are a few (not many, I grant you) that do have an ethical approach to an arguably unethical business.

My sense of ethics is pretty classical; besides, that is not something I wish to discuss....You know how I feel about psychics in general, and I would prefer to leave the thread without stirring up anything and with a thank you for your attention to my friend's book; I hope you will review it....I will ask him to send you a copy...

Again, best wishes....opie

I must say that I am most disappointed that Opie does not wish to stir up trouble.

Opie is no fun anymore.
