============================================
The 2006 MINDvention will take place from November 5th 7th at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. For our 3rd convention we are working with a number of the stars of mentalism that have tons of exciting information to share with everyone. Booked performers are ;

John Riggs In addition to being a solid working pro, John is known to many mentalists for his many books and products for the professional performer.

Francis Menotti Francis will be remembered by all from 2005 with his Bulimia Prediction for 2006 he will be back with a late night Off Color Mentalism show that should be something else.

Greg Arce A clever inventor, Greg has put out four e-books and a book test called the Freestyle that is used by some of the leading performers. He will have some great new effects as well.

Docc Hilford Docc is a fantastic performer with a unique and unmatched style. His lecture and show will be a real treat for all. A true modern master.

Dennis Laub Denny was a performing mentalist for a number of years in the late 70's and 80's with an act called Mind Mirage. He is back with some great new books and some of his classics as well.

Rick Maue His performances and lecture is 2005 were convention highlights for many. Rick has a deep pool of material and he will be sure to have some great information to share with all.

Anton Zelman One of the highest paid corporate mentalist ever, will discuss the ins and outs of working and succeeding in the business world.

2005 was our first convention at the Palace Station and the new home of the MINDvention was a perfect fit. The hotel rooms are reasonably priced ($39 - $59 a night) and the hotel features an array of restaurants from fast food to fine dining choices.

One of the things that helps make this convention so special is what I call the Las Vegas factor. You never know who you will bump into at the MINDvention. Las Vegas is where many of the stars of magic live work and play; and many of them drop in, and we are always happy to see them.

Here are a few of the great people who have been at the MINDvention in the past; Teller, Banachek, Luke Jermay, Mark Strivings, Max Maven, Lee Earle, Alain Nu, Jon Stetson, Chuck Hickok, Bob Kohler, Gregory Wilson, Eugene Burger, Michael Close, Harvey Berg, Gary Darwin, Paul Harris, Brad Henderson, Jeff McBride, Eric Mead, Torkova, Steve Bedwell, Stan Allen, (my apologies if I left off your name).

We also have several jam shows, where the attendees (and usually some special guest magic celebrities) are invited to perform and show their stuff. These shows had some really great effects from mentalists from all over the world.

The MINDvention has always featured panel discussion. We bring together world class performers, a specific topic and allow the audience toAsk the Pros. The panel discussions are informative, and they always produce some great insights (and usually a few good laughs). We also feature a well-stocked dealers room with all the latest and greatest mentalism effects, books and DVDs you could ever want.

MINDvention 2006 will be three unbelievably great days of mentalism and we invite you to join us in the most magical city on Earth, Las Vegas!

Hi All,

Here is the latest from MINDvention headquarters ...

Two performers had to cancel, Greg Arce and John Riggs ... they have both expressed their regrets ... we will miss their energy and enthusiasm and I hope they can join us in the future, but MINDvention rolls on ...

To replace Greg is the multi-talented Francis Menotti ... Francis was already scheduled to do his Off Color Mentalism show and now he will present his lecture on creativity as well (lecture details below) ... Francis is a wonderful performer (as you will remember from his turn in last year's attendee show) and since one of our discussions this year is on creativity, I thought this was the perfect match.

To replace John (who many feel is irreplaceable), I am thrilled to announce that Jason Alexander of Seinfeld fame, will be presenting his full show that made for record-setting attendance at the Magic Castle earlier this year ... in addition Jason will talk about mixing magic and mentalism, presentation, and his own personal journey that led him to his act...

The line-up for the dealer's room is solid with several familiar faces and a few new ones as well:
Alakazam (UK), Bill Pearce, Maverick Magic, Jheff, Sean Taylor(Australia), Lee Earle, Mark Strivings, Patrick Redford and Wonder Warehouse

I am fine tuning the schedule and will post it soon ... I am never happy having to announce schedule changes, but with the stellar performers filling in (and maybe a surprise act or two), I am really looking forward to three excellent days of performing, learning and sharing ...There is still plenty of time to make your plans to join us in Las Vegas ...

Francis Menott's Creativity Lecture

Are you a creative performer? Do you truly feel that your audience will watch you and get something different from your performance that they will from any other magician? That's a pretty tall order, but one that I am completely confident that anyone can fill, with a little work.
This lecture is intended to inspire the magician (professional and hobbiest alike) to look at their performances with a fresh set of eyes: to look beyond the separation of the effect from the presentation, or the separation of the old and the new.

In this session, I hope to join my lecture-audience on a journey through discovering (and sometimes rediscovering) tools of inspiration taught and used by some of the top actors, writers, visual artists and magicians ever. My hope is not to preach, but to convey these useful practices that I have acquired from some true legends of the various arts and to help other magicians put them to use on some level in their own progression as a lover and performer of magic.

The average person (and certainly the average magician) seems to think that he or she is not very creative, nor capable of being creative. Together, we address this and many other fallacies about creativity through examining:

* "Rules" to create by
* Sources of inspiration (literature, movies, music, artists...)
* Games and exercises to strengthen the creative mind
* Creating new methods
* Creating new plots
* The POSITIVE aspects of independent creation

Extra Added Event!

Following Rick Maues lecture of new material, there will be a short break.
And then, there will be a special late-night workshop that will include
a number of Ricks older pieces, some of which he has not taught for
several years--for example, TERASABOS, which is certainly Ricks most
talked about creation. Another piece that will be included is FATE--the
routine that Bob Kohler, and many others, said was the best effect from
the 2005 MINDvention.

The theme of this special workshop is creating and constructing
performance pieces, and Rick will break the routines down, showing not
only how, but also why, each is designed the way that it is.
