Kaufman's Discoverie of Witchcraft

Postby Bill Wheeler » March 13th, 2005, 9:22 pm

I have a copy of this book (an absolutely beautiful reproduction btw). It seemed like yesterday it was printed, it is hard to believe it was published 10 YEARS ago.

I was rather curious how much it might be worth ballpark-wise. My usual searches on allibris etc. weren't too fruitful.

Value is no more than it was: we still have plenty. :)

Does anyone know where to find the Discoverie of Witchcraft kit that was out a few years ago?

Rediscoverie Arts, 325 South Third St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. $1584.
I'd write before sending money to check pricing and availability. The website, www.rediscoveriearts.com does not yet appear functional.

The kit is a thing of beauty: an enormous wooden chest with reproductions of all the magical props called for in The Discoverie of Witchcraft.
I'm proud to have one!

$1584.00? Quite summy.

I wish the book had been written in 10AD.

Hey, Harry Anderson has one (actually TWO, I think, and one's probably for sale), too!

I have the Discoverie Arts Kit, and it is very nice. I do not, however, care for the carrying case / box it came in.

I have a special (and unusual) request. Does anyone have an original (first through third edition) copy of The Discoverie of Witchcraft ? I'm asking someone to copy the pages of the book, in color (so they'll create a reasonable facsimile of the original), which feature the "magic tricks" included in the Discoverie Arts kit.

I'll be happy to pay any reasonable price to have the pages copied and sent to me. I intend to put them, along with the apparatus, in a wall-mounted display case.

If you do have said copy, and are interested in parting with it, I'd be interested in knowing that as well.

Cordially,

Greg Edmonds

Greg,

I posted about my time with a first edition on this thread:

One of the photos I have is of the bodkins. I might be able to pass that one on.

Take care, Ian
