Spiked Coin

Two questions about the "Spiked Coin" sold in plastic by Royal Magic.

1) Is there a nice wooden or metal one available?

2) Who invented the trick?

According to Bart Whaleys, "The Encyclopedic Dictionary of Magic," the Spiked Coin was Invented by Tom Fitzgerald in 1957. I recently saw an older one made of wood on ebay. You might want to try searching there occasionally if you are looking for an older one that is not plastic.

Edwin of Supreme marketed this in wood back in the late 60s,early 70s. ;)

I have a weird one. It is a little wooden box with a hinged lid. The inside of the box is round, the same size of a half dollar and about an inch deep. There is a post that extends down from the lid to hold a half in place after it's put inside and the lid closed. There are four holes drilled through for the pins. The secret is the coin is gaffed. I bought it off some guy who needed money and wandered into the shop one day. I have never seen another.

That sounds very like the Supreme model although Edwin supplied a gaffed German coin more usually seen as Palming coins! :confused

I am not sure about that.I had to supply my own coin. It uses a standard(still) gaffed half dollar.

The Supreme coins were definitely Dollar size. :rolleyes:
