Photos from History Conf.

Postby dwmagic » January 6th, 2006, 5:20 pm

Happy New Year!
Since the latest issue of Genii has come by most of our homes, I would like to share with you some pages of photos of the Confernce on Magic History .
As you can see I hang with some friends, and its a good thing there is an editor involved for the magaizne.
Page #5 has some photos of Bob Read from his lecture.
Its a lot but not all.
Just click on the titles at the top of the page to view all of the 6 pages. About 220 images.
Enjoy!

Dustin,

Are you on a Mac? I using Safari on an iMac and when I click the link it downloads an empty text file and opens a blank new browser window. If I leave that blank window open and click tha link again it works fine. Typing the URL in also works. This is a weird glitch.

hmmmm... it seemed to work on a mac when I click the link. Not sure what the problem may be. Perhaps the solution is to copy and paste the url. And Dustin the shot I told you about with you and Mr. Swiss is there.

Damon;
I'm using a PC with XP/IE and the link worked fine. I especially enjoyed the images of Psycho and the Cheeze. Thanks for posting them.

Damon,

This was just weird enough for me to play with for a while. Since I'm on a Mac YMMV on a PC. This glitch is not in the code in the Genii forum but it appears that since the isn't a final backslash in the URL in the link for some reason Safari & Netscape think there is a file to download instead of a new window to open. This happens even if you type in the URL without the backslash (IE and Firefox don't reproduce this - they both add the backsLash and the page opens fine.)

If you type the URL with the final backslash the link works fine in all 4 browsers. So, if there's a way to edit your post to add that final backslash to the URL in your link it should clear up the problem or, of course, you can re-post the link again.

Damon,

No, I'm not on a mac (I know, I know...).

I can get in now, though (thanks Jim). Great shots! I love the shot of Jamy and me (even if I am in it). Now if I could just remember what it was we were talking about! Thanks!

Link worked fine on my PC.... and like a dope I didn't realize there was more than one page... first time I logged in only saw the first page, then, maybe the medication has worn off... I discovered the other pages.

Dustin: Jamey is pointing at you saying "So you're the guy..."

I hope everyone enjoyed the photos. Interestingly the first page has 2.5 x as many hits as the other pages. Hmmmmm...
I will be taking them down in 2 weeks to make room in my web account.
Cheers!

Damon,

Thanks so much for sharing! I think I'll have a little Caption Contest for the picture of Jamy Ian Swiss and Me (to be found on page #2, picture DSC_0102). The prize will be a DVD to be determined later. Post the captions here or email me. Contest ends when Damon takes the photos down! Have fun (and please be kind...or not)!

Caption for Jamy and Dustin photo:

Jamy's saying "That's right...You were the guy that tried to do the Fan Dance with only a packet of three or four cards. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen!"

Sorry Dustin.

So far, the front runner in the contest is from a contributor who wishes to remain anonymous. His caption, however, is:

Wait a minute: You actually watch all those DVDs?!?

The bar has been set. I dont know how long Damon will keep the pages up! But I suspect that time is running short!

Not very original (or funny for that matter). While it may be more personal, it doesn't seem "to fit" the pointing-finger-photo.

No wonder they don't want their name mentioned.

But I kid... :D

Thank you Dustin for the Caption Contest! Jamy is an interesting character and the possibilities are endless!!! Here are a few captions that come to mind.......

".....listen buddy....you CAN'T call yourself JAMES BOND WITH A MAGIC WAND!!"

:D

"...YOU edited my post on the GENII FORUM...and you tell me I have a BAD attitude!!"

:D

"....Well, in my EXPERT opinion, it will work much better if you crazy glue all three gaffed coins to your index finger!!"

:D

"....NO, NO, NO!! I'm the Rhoda and YOU'RE the Mary!"

:D

" If you don't make my book...THE BOOK OF THE MONTH for the NEXT six months.... I will give EVERYTHING I review in GENII a GOOD review!!!"

:D

" I refuse to tell you where I hide the DUCK while I am doing the double lift...."

:D

"...When I was a boy, I had to walk 17 miles in my bare feet, across the ENTIRE island of Manhattan in the pouring rain, over broken concrete pavement just to get to TANNEN'S to buy my first English penny....... so don't you tell me how tough it is for todays young magicians to order magic over the internet!!"

Hang on there Sam: Theres only one judge around here! (Its good to be king!)

While I do like Sals, theres a new front runner, received from Jim M. through email (made me laugh out loud):

Look, buddy...there's only enough room for one verbose reviewer in this magazine!

The site will stay up till end of the month, or I get back from location shooting.
Can't wait to hear the winning caption.
Maybe there is a way we can post the pic with the caption.
Cheers!

Sorry for the delay. Im very busy working on my pitch for a new reality series: Humping with the Stars! Were going to have current porn stars pair up with has-been sitcom stars wholl then give each other acting lessons. For the judges, were hoping to get Keanu Reeves, Jessica Simpson and Ron Jeremy.

Anyway, yes, it looks like we have a tie. I will announce them this weekend!

Back to the auditions

And the caption contest winner is

Before I announce it, I had mentioned that there might be a tie. But, after some discussion with the judging panel, it was decided that there was only one clear winner.

And the person who will be receiving a copy of Nathan Kranzos DVD Burning Up is

An anonymous email entry with this simple, but perfect caption:

No Jamy, I will not pull your finger!

The identity of our mystery winner, known to me, Richard, and the rest of the judging panel, might be revealed in a future issue of Genii. Look for it!

Thanks to everyone who played this silly game!

Thanks to Damon for a great photo (all his conference photos were great). And thanks as well must go to Jamy Ian Swiss. He gets war pay for appearing in a photo with yours truly!

Dustin
