The interior is very clean and very tight. Warm & appropriate B&W illustrations from Ross and Romano. Questions welcome. CONTENT: Written by an AFrican-American lawyer in the late 1890's, this is a re-telling of stories handed down from pre-civil war times by and about slaves. Contents include: Poor Sandy, The Conjurer's REvenge, The Gray Wolf's Haint, Master James' Nightmare, The Goophered Grapevine, Hot-Foot Hannibal, Sister Becky's Child. North Carolina folktales at their best!
