July Issue of Genii Mailed--Have you Received It?

Postby Richard Kaufman » June 9th, 2005, 5:12 pm

Just doing one of my occasional delivery-time checks. The July issue with Jay Marshall on the cover and a free CD-ROM from Bazar de Magia went in the mail a week ago.
Please post below when you receive it. Thanks!

The July issue of Genii, featuring Jay Marshall on the cover, and including a long interview with Harry Anderson, went in the mail yesterday, June 8.

In addition to our regular features (this month including Roberto Giobbi and Mark Wilson), and another great Magicana from David Acer, this issue includes a free CD-ROM from Bazar de Magia including demos of 11 routines, plus performances and explanations of two others. Their entire catalogue is also included as a pdf file. This is our third free give-away since December, and as long as you keep making it worth our advertiser's money to include these types of bonuses, we'll be able to continue to bring them to you.

Be sure to check out Pete McCabe's CONVEYOR BELT in Magicana. Because it has no illustrations it may not catch your eye, but it's hands down the most practical, most entertaining no-palm card to pocket routine I have ever seen.

This is just a note to dealers and readers: we've had complaints that magic shops were getting their copies before subscribers (this is because they are shipped by different methods). So, we're holding the dealer copies until a few days after the subscriber's copies get mailed. This should help to even out distribution.

The issue landed in Indiana today. Terrific cover, and great idea to rerun the Jay Marshall story. The 1960 cover issue on Jay also had a great story on him, only 2 pages, by Frances.

Very good issue. If you don't have a subscription, make sure you pick this one up at the magic shop.

Received July issue today, Saturday, June 18th, in the San Fernando Valley.

Pardon my ignorance. Is that an Earle Oakes drawing on the cover? A credit didn't leap out at me.

Sam, no the cover drawing is not by Earle Oakes. The artist wishes to remain anonymous (and this was stated in Genii Speaks).

I got the issue today. I like the Hirschfield-esque cover drawing. I have a guess as to who drew it but I'll keep it to myself.

Dustin made that card cheating dvd sound like comedy release of the year.

And I thought Jamy Swiss had a sharp tounge. I'm

not putting him or Dustan down. It's good to see

people not be condesending and call a spade a

spade. I am so used to wishy-washy Linking Ring

P.W. type reviews I applaude Jamy Swiss, Michael

Close and now Dustin !!! ....... Mike Walsh

The business about trying to properly time shipping so that neither the individual subscribers nor the dealers are unhappy is an impossible task.
So, in order to try and bring some balance to the universe, so not too many subscribers see the new issue in a shop before they receive their copy, we are mailing the dealer copies about five days after the subscriber copies (because the dealer copies go by UPS, which is a much quicker service).
