Henry Christ

Postby John Pezzullo » May 20th, 2002, 4:22 am

Charlie Miller wrote the following in the April 1981 issue of "Genii":

Henry Christ, who was among the finest experts I have ever seen, did a version of the 'Slap Aces' that was unique. The only one of its kind. There may be a book published in the near future with original tricks by Henry. It was written by him. In it are tricks never before seen.
Does anyone know whatever happened to this book?

Richard Kaufman had written in "Jennings 67" that Henry Christ had given his material "to a Particularly Devilish individual who promised to publish [his notes] and never did".

I think it shouldn't be too hard to figure out who RK is referring to, given the above quote. But I'm speculating here and that is not much in the way of Revelations ;)

Bill,

Thanks for the reply.

I can only think of four people in magic with the initials 'PD'. Of these four, I've eliminated the following:

-Paul Daniels
-Paul Diamond
-Peter Duffie

Pez... you left out the real guys name... (I know it) but wonder why he's not publishing it. Maybe so nobody else knows the material?

Pete,

I just hope that Henry Christ's material gets published sometime in the future. Let's wait and see what happens.

I enjoyed reading your mini-report about the Magic Castle Awards Banquet. The latest Pavel creation sounds interesting. Does it involve any 'cut & restored' phases?

I'm still saving my pennies for "The Son of Greater Magic"!

Regards,

John

The Christ stuff will never see the light of day. Even when "Revelations" was eventually published, it was eviscerated before release.

Pez... Son of Greater Magic? No. First the big book on History of the Rings, second "The Best of the Good Years" (auto racing) then ?

Pavel's new trick came about due to the fact that scissors are difficult to travel with... it is a "RESTORATION" of two pieces of rope to one and the handling, presentation is superb... Nailed ME and most others... Pavel told me he could have sold a suitcase full of them that night. :p
Stay tooned.

By P.D. (mathematician) or B.C. (certain club secretary)?

Regarding hidden material - I was told that Henry Christ sat down and wrote a detailed critique of the Vernon book on Leipzig that corrected much of the material. It is my understanding that those notes are probably in the possession of the Particularly Devilish individual RK references and will remain unseen and unpublished.

I guess I need to call the Professor you are referring to and see what's up with the material. Now that he's married with child I wonder if his interests have changed?
