Since I had never heard of So Sato before, these few videos really sold me on ordering the book.

I'm really looking forward to the book.

Those videos are really old. The DVD which comes with the book consists of all new footage I shot in a studio in Tokyo.

Richard, The book just arrived, looks great.

Would it be possible for you to mention a few items from this book . . .

1) that you especially liked in terms of effect?
2) that used some unique moves or approaches?

Very interested to hear your thoughts.

Thank you.

Hello Richard. Hope you had a blast at Genii live I mean Magic Live! Was surprised to hear about the end of Magic magazine. I think it's in the title; 'Magic' as a magazine title doesn't seem to have the longevity of a great title like say.. GENII!
(Remember the short lived Magic mag in the 70's, I begged my mom for every issue I could find at the Winn Dixie...)
Anyway, seriously- when will be the next Genii Bash and will So Sato be there?
(Can't wait for the maleman I mean mailperson to bring my book!!)
Thank you.

The next Genii Convention will take place October 4 (Wednesday) through October 7 (Saturday) in 2017 (not this October, but a year from October).

There will be two workshops (as usual) on Sunday October 8. Our website will be up within a few weeks.

Same hotel in Orlando.

Hope to see you there!

The DVD was a lot of fun and has me fired up to read the book. Viewing it has encouraged me to read through and try some of the effects I might have otherwise skimmed over.

Last year Mark Elsdon emailed a recommendation - a blast from the past - about a powerful trick which had been overlooked. This was Horse Race by Nick Trost (see pages 91 to 93 of the Card Magic of Nick Trost).
I checked this reference out and discovered it was quite a gem.
I loved the way it could be instantly repeated by asking one of the spectators to select a random card. And this would represent the suit for the magician's horse.

I find it's an ideal trick for friends in an English pub.

I was chuffed then when I came across Zen Derby, Sato's brilliant new method for this horse race contest.
What a great trick! The mass destruction method fooled me even when I was dealing and shuffling the packets according to the instructions.

One quibble - the write-up refers to 'a derby' and 'derby horses'. This should be 'the Derby' and 'Derby horses'?
