Re: New Book Coming on the Card Magic of David Berglas
The regular edition was shipped on May 27. The printer screwed up and instead of sending it Priority Mail, they sent it Bound Printed Matter. While many people have received it, many others have not. I'm am told by the printer that it can take until the end of June for everyone to receive their copy.
It's the same schedule for those outside the US: most copies should be delivered by the end of June.

Hi, Richard. I ordered my copy after May 27. Will subsequent orders (like mine) be shipped Priority?
Thanks. Really looking forward to reading it!

Yes, books shipped within the US are being shipped by Priority Mail because they are going from the fulfillment warehouse where things at least appear to be in control.

Frank, if Richard Kaufman can do it--and I've seen him do "Think a Card" several times--you can too (and I say that meaning that he always has a lot of stuff on his mind!). And the section on Magician's Choice is required reading.

So, I got a call from the printer today that the slipcases for the deluxe editions have arrived. I will see a sample tomorrow morning and, assuming the book fits properly into the slipcase, they'll insert the rest of them.
Then they have to get shipped to the warehouse, checked in, and then they will be shipped out to customers next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Richard, delighted to inform you that the book has arrived in Gloucestershire, UK...Looks like the landings in Europe have begun...
Re: New Book Coming on the Card Magic of David Berglas
Just wondering when we are going to get a substantial number of members discussing the pros and cons of the book rather than discussing when it will arrive. Have tried to follow discussions on the Magic Cafe. But, Mr. Lewis has made that discussion almost unbearable to follow.
From my perspective, the book is very valuable in several manners. Not just in the mechanics of the Berglas Effect, but also the advice on how to make a simple card trick seem like a miracle, new methods and ideas for misdirection, as well assurances that maneuvers that seem bold will go unnoticed.
Richard warns us how difficult it will be to be convinced that the "fiddling" will go unnoticed. It seems so obvious on the DVD's, but the spectators don't seem to notice. I guess experience will tell.
I was relieved to learn that I don't have to get rid of the Aronson stack. But, it will certainly take some time to learn the sequence from so many directions. To get the most value out of this book I think you will have to sit down with a legal pad and jot down a lot of specific information as to what to say, when to say it, how to say it, and what to do while you are saying it in various situations. You won't be doing the Berglas Effect reliably in a week or two.

Re: New Book Coming on the Card Magic of David Berglas
Is there a strong connection between what's in the book and Richard's tale of being in the house where after naming a number and card he was directed to open a drawer and take out a pack and start dealing?
Re: New Book Coming on the Card Magic of David Berglas
Richard recounts the experiences of several friends of Berglas and what they say occurred. I have no doubt that those are true and are attainable after reading the book and working on the material. Richard also points out that what some of these friends remember happened may not be exactly what happened. But, the creation of that memory and the erasing of certain facts was also part of the design by Berglas.
Re: New Book Coming on the Card Magic of David Berglas
Hey guys,
So now that it seems I am only days away from having the book arrive (Yeee-haaaa!), can anyone recommend a good memorised stack? :-)
Not that I'm expect to be able to memorise anything as awesome as a whole deck stack in any period of time less than about a million years, but it always helps to think ahead.
Thanks,
ScotBloke

David describes one of his memorized stacks in the book.
Jon: the experience of mine you cite is completely explained (the method) in the book.
Other people in the UK have also reported starting to receive the books today.
KenAbbott: read "Make it Simpler."

Re: New Book Coming on the Card Magic of David Berglas
For those of you awaiting your deluxe edition of "The Berglas Effects," I have good news. Today I received an advance copy with a sample of the finished slipcase. The slipcase fits and the deluxe edition looks great. I have instructed the printer to proceed with inserting all the books into the slipcases, shrinkwrapping them, and shipping them to the fulfillment warehouse. From there they will be shipped to you.

ALL orders, no matter whether you paid myself or Berglas, are being shipped by me from the US.
I haven't heard of anyone in France receiving the book yet. All the people who've sent or posted a note about receiving it have been in the UK.

It's a rotating strike (e.g., city to city). Mail is still going through. Just slower.

Oh, I thought the whole system had just stopped. That's what happens here when there's a strike.

While I am not new to mem-deck work, today I was able to make use of new ideas I had gleamed from this book. Everything worked as planned.
Read the whole book. Pay attention. Think.

Hi there,
Book arrived in north Scotland (UK) today.
So just thought I'd quickly post a quick thanks to Mr Kaufman for keeping us updated on the progress of the book being sent out, not to mention the creation of the book in the first place. :)
Now onto hiding this purchase from the wife. I think I'll go with the "Oh this book, I've had this book for years" approach this time.
Regards,
Scotbloke

Re: New Book Coming on the Card Magic of David Berglas
I have a problem with disc 1, with several disc error messages arising. I've tried playing the discs in different machines, (and, in fact, they only play on my dedicated DVD player and not on any player software I have on my laptop), but the content freezes and jumps perhaps half a dozen times on disc 1.

The discs play without error on my Desktop PC, as well as my macbook laptop. They also play on the three different DVD players I have at home.

Re: New Book Coming on the Card Magic of David Berglas
I shall never understand the capriciousness and peccadilloes of DVDs and DVD playback, as all now seems fine with disc 1. I really thought I had a problem as the other 2 played fine, and the error messages and freezing and jumping on disc 1 were very pointed.
They still don't work on my computer, but I'd rather watch David Berglas on my TV than on my laptop anyway so no harm done...

Re: New Book Coming on the Card Magic of David Berglas
Just an update Richard: in which country the book has landed yet? Or "not" landed, to be more precise (according to the listing of preorders you had)... Is the UK and Australia the only lucky people to have DB arrived at home? :) I wonder why it takes much time to arrive in Paris than in London :/

friboundi - don't panic yet. It still hasn't arrived in Roseville, CA as of 6/19. Richard mentioned that it could take until the end of the month for everyone in the US to get theirs. I'm not going to panic until July 1st.

Joe Pecore just received his copy today and he doesn't live far from me.
I wouldn't panic if you don't receive it by July 1: that's just the outside window the post office gives for delivery of Bound Printed Matter. I assume that, all things considered because it's the post office, that for some folks it will take even longer. The whole thing is very unfortunate.

Hi Richard,
Yeah, I would have to agree, very unfortunate. I would have been better off not pre-ordering but then this mailing fiasco was unforeseeable. I will be patient. Maybe by the time I get my copy everyone else will have forgotten all about the Berglas effect and it will be my secret. :-)
Waiting like an anxious kid for Christmas.

There is nothing wrong except that the printer sent the books out by the wrong method of mail, which takes much longer than I requested. The only books to reach anyone outside the USA so far have been in the UK and Australia, and that was only in the last few days.
Your book has been shipped and should arrive within several weeks.
