I.B.M. Question
I.B.M. Question
When joining the I.B.M how long does one normally have to wait for a reply back from them after paying the $65.00 membership fee?

Well, I joined in 2007, and have yet to hear back from them.
Good luck to you.

Re: I.B.M. Question
I believe the way it works is that your name is published in the Linking Ring as a prospective member. This makes for a delay of a couple of months. I'm pretty sure that's the procedure.
Re: I.B.M. Question
that's the oddest thing i have heard.
you pay then you wait and wait and appearently wait more.
no wonder my father never joined any 'club' except
for the III Sheeters but that was way back in the beginning.

I'm totally serious.
Not only did I not receive any magazines, I didn't receive a single piece of paper from them.
Oh, except for the charge on my Visa bill.
They made sure to follow up with that.

Re: I.B.M. Question
TCG,
Didn't you receive a private email several hours ago from the IBM Membership Chairman offering to research and resolve your rather unusual situation?
From 2007 to 2010 is a long time to wait for resolution of a VISA card charge.

Are Keith and I a rare case? Seriously are there any I.B.M. Members on the forum?

They have a secret handshake, but if you have more than 3 fingers you can't do it.

Re: I.B.M. Question
Jager,
I have posted the membership process below. Your application was received on Jan. 7th and the office is not open on the weekend.
Applications for membership are processed the following business day they are received. Prospective members applying online receive a confirmation following the submission of the application. All prospective members are sent an acknowledgement letter. Acknowledge letters are normally sent out weekly by email. If the email fails/bounces or if no email address is provided an acknowledgement letter is then sent by the U.S. postal carriers. In this letter, prospective members are requested to check their name and mailing address for it accuracy before the membership packet is sent. The acknowledgement letter also states when they can expect to receive their membership packet and The Linking Ring.
Membership packets are mailed after the 1st of each month.
Prospective members who apply for membership by the 15th of the month will receive their first Linking Ring the following month. Example Application received on the 10th of the January will receive the February Linking Ring. Application received after the 15th will receive The Linking Ring will be mailed the next month. Example Application received on the 16th of January will receive the March Linking Ring.
Your name will also be published in the Linking Ring as well as on the I.B.M. web site (www.magician.org). If there are no objections to your membership within 30 days from the date of publishing, your membership will become confirmed.
If you or anyone else has a question or problem with your membership, please contact the IBM Headquarters Office at 636-724-2400 or email at office@magician.org. Unless we hear from you, we won't know that there may be a problem.

Re: I.B.M. Question
i will say that the IBM's Linking Ring was extremely
respectful of remembering my mom in their 'Broken Wand'
section.
I say this for a reason.
She was not a member.
And there are a lot of incoming members to the organization
and if they did something like what happened explained,
it probably was just a error or something overlooked.
Although odd still.
I thought it was called the Mickey Mouse Club.
