Appear surrounded.

Hi, I may be attending a 'anything goes' fight in september in a ring with an audience about 1000-1500 people.

I want to do an exciting entrance and I thought about actually appearing in the ring from no where.

I have seen something like this but I don't think you can do it surrounded. Is there anything (like a box) that you can appear in surrounded?

Double tip-over trunk will work surrounded. Put it on a platform and on casters so it can be spun around and shown empty.

You probably don't want to have to have a box (with you inside) lugged onto a ring, shown empty and have to be revolved for everyone to see it is empty, then you appear and the big box has to be lugged away before the main event can take place. And there's all those ringside ropes to navigate, besides.

This is the perfect place for Wizard magic and thinking outside the box. Try a parachute appearance. A bunch of assistants bring a small parachute into the ring (cut to the size requirements of the ring). They stand all around it and lift it up, catching air and lowering it to the ground. This is done three times and on the third time, they seem to have "caught something" under the cloth. The form under the cloth rises to its feet and the parachute is whipped away to reveal the Illusionist. I assume you'll want to continue with more magic than that, so the assistants bundle away the parachute and the performance continues with whatever else you had in mind. That's Wizard Magic! No box!

Ya know, thats actually a great idea. I was also thinking about the ringside ropes and all that would make a big box kinda difficult.

Where can I learn this? The link you provided, magic nook. I couldnt find it in the wizards journal?

-Thanks.

Sorry about that. I thought it had already gone on-line, but it's there now in issue # 5 of The Wizards' Journal: Beach Illusion: Parachute Game.

Thanks a lot.

I'd just like to know before purchasing, any limitations I might encounter.

$3 is nothing, but I need to be sure this will work otherwise I need time to find something else.

I don't think Ill be able to make any modifications to the ring, its in a big arena. So all I need is a parachute, myself and assistants, right?

Also, do I recieve the product by email?

Thanks

I've done this one with my Wiz Kids and we usually use it in outdoor shows at camps and recreation dept. shows. We used it to produce our Wiz Kid Clown. Limitations? Practice, practice, practice, then rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. Costuming is also important. The person who appears should be dressed completely differently from the assistants who produce him (or her). That's why we used it to produce our clown in full clown gear. I hope you enjoy the results!

If you buy the secret, remember you can always e-mail Spellbinder (or me, if you wish) if you have any questions about the effect.

A Bryces Screen (See the Abbotts catalogue for a description) would do the trick for you and I think they sell the plans too.

Bryce's Screen is good for a stage where you can get it ready and then it can be done surrounded, but this is a sports ring surrounded by the audience from the start. The magician has to enter with all of his stuff, set it up in full view of the audience, work it and then get it all out of there or there's really going to be a fight!

What's needed is a way to get him up there unseen by the audience, set up the appearance right in front of them and then make him appear. After that, everything he has worked with has to be taken away, leaving a spotless ring (no dove droppings for fighters to slip on!). Unless someone has a better idea, the Parachute Appearance meets all the criteria.
